7th Sea 3rd Edition ushers in a new era for the iconic roleplaying game created by John Wick!

Built for cinematic swashbuckling adventures and powered by a fast, straightforward system inspired by Roll & Keep, this new edition plunges you into an age filled with new challenges! For the past few months, we’ve been building this new edition with you, and this Kickstarter campaign is another major milestone!

In 7th Sea 3rd Edition, you’re not a nameless adventurer. You’re the main character in a swashbuckling movie! Your decisions can overturn conspiracies, topple sovereigns, prevent a war between two nations, seize an artifact from a secret society before it can gain power over a kingdom, turn an entire fleet with a single act of panache that shifts sailors’ allegiance, or bring a historical truth into the light, reshaping Théah’s balance for the next ten years.

Your character is a Hero. They take risks when everyone else hesitates, win with style even when the situation is desperate, make choices that impact the world, and live with the consequences.

🎲 System

3rd Edition is built on a system designed to serve pacing and staging. The keywords are “heroic” and “cinematic.”

The system is:

• easy to learn, so you can start playing fast;
• cinematic, supporting action and panache;
• inspired by Roll & Keep, with clear, dynamic resolution;
• based on two colors of d10s: one color for your action dice (what you accomplish), and another for your wound dice (what you suffer and the consequences that build up);
• designed to encourage risk-taking, “success with style,” and interesting consequences.

All of it is developed with the community: the system is in playtest (phases 1 and 2 already completed, phase 3 open to backers), to reach a final version that brings unbridled action and bold, panache-filled feats to the table!

⚒️ Customize your adventures with Paths

Every Game Master has their own style, and 7th Sea supports very different tones.

Paths help you adjust the feel of your adventures, and, if needed, tweak certain rules elements, so you can customize the game.

• Path of the Goddess: the supernatural takes center stage. Sorcerers, deities, enchanted objects, and extraordinary creatures become more present.
• Path of Intrigue: a darker, more mature atmosphere. This Path focuses on conspiracies, moral dilemmas, and impossible choices.
• Path of Progress: a Théah of discoveries and upheaval. Science, innovations, and Syrneth artifacts take a central role.

📚 The Books

Whether you’re a long-time 7th Sea veteran or an RPG fan looking for cinematic action, this third edition is made for you.

For newcomers: We designed 3rd Edition to be a welcoming gateway into the incredible world of 7th Sea! Even if you’ve never played before, this is the perfect opportunity to discover it. To get started, you only need the Corebook. Everything is inside to create heroes, play swashbuckling scenes, and launch your first campaigns. The Starter Set, included as a PDF in all pledge levels, also provides a first major adventure to get you in the saddle.

For Théah veterans: This new version advances the world’s timeline by 10 years. Geopolitical balances have shifted, and new intrigues rumble beneath the surface. This edition deepens the setting with details, factions, and revelations to fuel your campaigns, while keeping your 2nd Edition books relevant: they remain a treasure trove of ideas, locations, characters, and plots to reuse in this new era.

The 7th Sea 3rd Edition game system is currently in development, and the community is actively taking part through surveys and playtests. Phases 1 and 2 took place via our development journal on Patreon, where the first 1,300 subscribers were able to discover our proposal and share extensive feedback, allowing us to make adjustments and improvements.

With this Kickstarter campaign, now is the time to join the adventure! Playtest Phase 3 opens now: the new playtest document will be accessible to backers just after the campaign, so you can test the latest updates, share your feedback, and directly help refine the game before the final version.

Exclusives: Some of the books and accessories we offer are Kickstarter/Ulule exclusives. These are products offered:

• during this crowdfunding campaign, and possibly depending on remaining stock during other crowdfunding campaigns or pledge managers;
• at conventions;
• through retail stores that backed the campaign.

Exclusives will not be available through normal distribution channels. In this campaign, the Montaigne editions and the Deluxe and Collector boxes are exclusives.

Backers pledging $125 or more will have the option to pay either in full or in three installments, at no extra cost. You’ll see the Pledge Over Time option directly when selecting your reward tier during the campaign: just choose the payment method that works best for you!

💍 Add-ons

You can complete or upgrade your pledge with add-ons: optional items you can add to your pledge to get additional books or accessories, on top of what your pack already includes.

It’s the best way to personalize your contribution, whether you start with an entry pledge and add what you’re missing, or choose a full pack and add extras to outfit your table.

The Starter Set includes an introduction to the rules and setting, an adventure booklet, five pre-generated characters, game aids, a dice set, and a soft Game Master screen.

7th Sea Dice Set (10 blue + 5 red) - €20
The system is based on two colors of d10s: one for your action dice (what you accomplish), and the other for your wound dice (what you suffer and the consequences that build up). This option allows you to get a complete set.

🎁 Stretch Goals

The 7th Sea 3rd Edition campaign runs simultaneously on Kickstarter and Ulule (the French platform), and the totals from both platforms will be combined to unlock bonuses, bringing the whole 7th Sea community together!

For this campaign, stretch goals take the form of a great expedition across the world of Terra. Each milestone funds a new destination and unlocks rewards for everyone on board. To keep the sense of discovery alive, one stretch goal will be revealed each day during the campaign. The table below shows the destinations reached and the schedule of upcoming reveals.

Among the major rewards unlocked is a full adventure campaign, designed for the new edition and built around the setting, lore, and system introduced in the Corebook.

About Studio Agate

Agate is a French independent studio specialized in world building, game design and transmedia. 📆 Delivery schedule

We are currently working on the texts and the system for this third edition. We are aiming to deliver the PDFs in Fall 2026, and the physical rewards in Spring 2027.
We have planned around 6 months for manufacturing and shipping, with some extra buffer. However, in the current context, manufacturing and transport delays can increase significantly. We have no control over these factors, and deliveries may be delayed until Fall 2027.

Our project is currently in production and may experience delays. The dates we announce are always estimates. Please know that our team is fully committed to delivering this project and providing the best possible result. In exchange for these risks, our backers benefit from preferential pricing and exclusive bonuses.

VAT and customs regulations

VAT rates depend on local laws and regulations in each country. VAT will be collected during the Pledge Manager phase. Any customs fees may be presented on delivery by the carrier.

🇺🇸 United States

• No additional tax will be collected.
• All US orders will ship from the United States: no customs fees will apply.

🇪🇺 European Union

• In accordance with EU regulations, all rewards will be taxed at the reduced VAT rate applicable to books in each country. All non-book add-ons will be taxed at the standard VAT rate, depending on the country.
• All EU orders will ship from France: no customs fees will apply.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

• All books, boxed sets, and PDF rewards will benefit from the zero rate / reduced VAT applicable to books in the UK. All other rewards and add-ons will be taxed at the standard 20% VAT rate.
• All UK orders will ship from the United Kingdom: no customs fees will apply.

🌍 Rest of the world

All orders outside the regions listed above will ship from our French hub. No additional tax will be collected during the pledge manager. Import taxes and duties may apply upon delivery depending on local customs regulations. Unfortunately, we cannot predict these fees.

💸 Estimated shipping costs

This project offers advantageous shipping rates for the United States, the United Kingdom, and the EU.

Shipping will be added after the campaign, during the pledge manager phase. Here are some estimated shipping costs for the 7th Sea Corebook (€40). The exact amount will depend on your parcel weight. Unlocked stretch goals may increase shipping costs :

• UK & US: €15
• EU: €20–30
• Rest of the world: €40–90

International shipping conditions can change due to global factors beyond our control. If costs rise unexpectedly, we will do our best to absorb the impact and keep any adjustment on backers to a minimum, with clear updates along the way.
