A Kobold Pilgrimage: One Hour One Shots for Shadowdark & OSR

One-Hour One-Shots

The Campaign Book

What’s in the Campaign book?

One-Hour One-Shots: A Kobold Pilgrimage combines the 10 stand alone one-hour one-shot adventures from the dungeon cards, weaving them into a unified campaign.

The book connects and fleshes out the adventures, linking them together into a grand adventure story for a rewarding narrative experience. It keeps the action fast paced, while adding depth and additional content. The A5 hardback book is drafted with over 130 pages of campaign and adventure content...

The Dungeon Cards

The One-Shot Dungeon Cards contain the 10 unique adventures, each separated out onto an A5 card, designed for concise streamlined gameplay packed with action and fun!

Each One Shot Adventure is a stand-alone, and designed for use with Shadowdark RPG.

A great variety of scenarios in a variety of locations - above and below ground!

The double sided A5 cards contain the entire adventure, giving you everything you need to run the one-shot scenario in a concise, clean format.

The cards are designed to help the game master, and the players understand the goal in a matter of moments as well as setting the scene, dropping the players right into the action, exploration and problem solving of the mission.

Each of these adventures can be used with any characters as a stand-alone one-shot, or a drop and play adventure location in your larger campaign world.

The Character Cards

Our A5 Character cards contain a complimenting set of ready-to-play player characters, featuring unique art illustrated by our wonderfully creative Shauna.

• Add variety with the set of classic sword and sorcery characters
• Perfect for conventions and quick start play on a one shot

Get playing straight away - don't waste your game night on set up!

What IS a One-Hour One-Shot?

Have you ever started a one shot with your table only to find that you don’t have time to make sense of all the notes, or realize once you’re into the adventure that you bit off more than you could chew in a single session?

Does setting up the story, getting the party of heroes out of the tavern and onto the road, and working through the encounters with monsters full of HP take you too long to get through?

Our one shots are robustly play tested and designed with timeframes in mind. Each adventure has a clear goal: a mission to accomplish in an hour!

Compatibility

For use with Shadowdark RPG:

Designed with care for direct compatibility with Shadowdark, these adventures are created in the theme of classic dungeon delving & exploration, adventure & survival, and dynamic time challenges.

What about other OSR Systems & 5e?

While our campaigns have strong OSR themes, our team and gaming crew enjoy a number of game systems together. The A5 cards follow follow the format of Shadowdark RPG in all its glory. The A5 campaign book showcases the black and white interior and classic line art that we love and fits so well with Shadowdark RPG.

However, by virtue of being packed with campaign lore and adventures rather than new spells and mechanics, the adventure cards and campaign book content is easily adaptable to other systems. Care and intentional thought has been made on our part to be 5e & OSR friendly for those using other systems.

What makes these One-Shots Different?

To make missions playable in an hour of game time, we believe you need concise information with clear layout to get playing quickly, but DM’s need enough detail so that they aren’t scrambling after reading a keyed location to create the adventure from the brief prompt.

The campaign book, A Kobold Pilgrimage, expands the adventure notes in a natural way to add to both the locations and creatures, as well as the larger narrative.

A game master doesn't want to be left asking: “Why is the elf there? What do they want? How are they disposed towards the party?” Neither do they want to be sifting through walls of fine print text. This is the balance we have struck with our one-shots.

Robustly play tested

This isn’t just a random collection of ideas put to paper. Our heroes and heroines have worked hard playtesting and crawling their way through these one-hour one-shots. When the paladin is holding her last torch, completing the mission on time counts!

Shipping Estimates

A Note on Estimates & Shipping Fees

We live in a changing geopolitical landscape, with knock on effects to shipping, taxes and tariffs. We've done our best in the table below to provide rough shipping estimates in consultation with our fulfilment partner, however we'll wait to charge shipping fees until shortly before we are ready to begin fulfilment. This is the best way to look after everyone, as we won't have to guess shipping, and it means that we can fairly charge you exactly what costs actually are for your location.

Taxes and VAT / GST

We will charge relevant taxes as a part of our final shipping fees; not all backers will be subject to taxes, and they vary greatly based on location.
