Agoro Road and Agoro Camp

Two games, one campaign, and the figurines and table games that grow out of them

This campaign is also how I build a community. You play both games while they are in development, you tell me what works and what doesn’t, and your feedback shapes them. I’m a small studio, and I have been a gamer since I was a kid: back in the day I led a World of Warcraft guild to some server-first kills. Backers get a dedicated Discord server, where I share builds and talk with you while I make the games.
Agoro Road and Agoro Camp are two games rooted in West African culture, made by Agoro Games, my small studio inside Sankofa Digital OÜ, an Estonian company. One campaign funds both, and the games rewards include both games or Agoro Road on its own. Neither game is released yet; both are in development. This campaign pays for the time to finish them (Agoro Road for mobile, Steam and the Epic Games Store; Agoro Camp in Unreal Engine 5.8 for Steam and the Epic Games Store) and for the first wave of figurines of their characters.

Why I make these games
For the last few years I have been building a life on an off-grid camp in central Portugal. I arrived towing a caravan, and slowly the land became a place: solar panels and batteries, water tanks, an outdoor kitchen, a workshop. At one time it was a fully working off-grid glamping camp, with tents, yurts and a cosy caravan, and at one point fifteen people were staying there at the same time. Many people came through it, volunteers, neighbours and friends, and each of them taught me something. I learned hard skills, running my own solar power and water and building with my own hands, and soft ones: hosting, trusting, letting go.

I started it for my children, as a place where we could spend more time together, and I was able to show them the land in 2022 and 2023. The road went differently than I planned: I have not seen my kids for nearly three years now.
At the end of August, two people I had hosted thanked me for letting them stay and told me they respected all the work I had done on the land. Then they made me a smoothie, with words like “we want to give you one last smoothie”. I believe they put something in it so that I would sleep through the night. That night they left, taking different things of mine and the food. The things can be replaced. What it did to me is harder: it shattered something at the core of who I am, my trust in people. This campaign is also my way of learning to trust again, by letting you support me.
Agoro Camp is how I give back everything the camp taught me. It rebuilds the real camp, from a national LiDAR survey and my own drone footage, as a game that is fun to play and quietly teaches what off-grid life asks of you: energy, water, work, and the people around you. The people of the camp are part of it too: the singer Nilua, who is there with her dog Marley, appears in the game, and one of her live sessions at the camp is already in the playable demo build. Agoro Road is its little sibling, a cosy road-defence game.
With this campaign I want to keep making games like these at Agoro Games.
Try the early prototypes (free, in the browser, no download). They are early browser versions, not the versions this campaign funds:

Agoro Road: how it plays
Agoro Road gameplay trailer, 16 October: Unreal Engine 5.8 development build, in-engine gameplay.
A cosy road-defence game, coming to mobile, Steam and the Epic Games Store. Your caravan travels the Hearthland Road, and trouble comes down it in waves. Between waves you get a quiet moment to build; then the road moves, and your stamps keep the way. The browser prototype already plays like this:

- Place stamps. Drag a stamp onto a ring beside the road, then aim which way it faces.
- Four stamps, four roles. The Waykeeper blocks the road, the Lamplight throws light a long way, the Echo Drum keeps a steady pulse, and the Road Garden is cheap shelter. Each one charges up and has its own ability.
- Dye is your budget. Every stamp costs dye, so where you place matters more than how many you place.
- Choose your road. Between waves you pick your way, trade at the market for new stamps, deepen a stamp you already have, or mend the caravan.
- Hearthland, the first region, is a complete journey and free to play. Walk alone, or share a road with one friend through a private road code: each of you walks your own branch whenever you have time, so you never need to be online together. Or play Creative mode with no limits. English and German.
- A first 3D view. The prototype's road also runs as a 3D view in the browser: https://road.agoro.games/?r=3d
Already in the browser prototype: the trouble on the road is animals (goats, donkeys and guinea fowl) that are turned back and guided home, never fought; a painted art pass; and four levels of difficulty, from Beginner to Agoro. Still in development: a 3D look matched to the concept paintings, and a version in Unreal Engine 5.8. The gallery shows each of them, labelled. The versions for mobile, Steam and the Epic Games Store are what this campaign funds, and none of them is out yet.

Agoro Camp: how it plays
Agoro Camp is a 3D game in Unreal Engine 5.8, coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store. It is set in Camp Afric, a real off-grid camp in central Portugal, and its world is rebuilt from a national LiDAR survey of the real ground and my own drone footage of the site. The trailer above sets the Unreal world, as it stood on 25 September, beside drone footage of the real place; its AI-generated scenes are marked in the picture.

The first mission, Arrival, and the GO LIVE mission with Nilua, played in the Unreal Engine 5.8 playtest build:
The first mission, Arrival, already works from start to finish in a development build. It follows the real arrival at the camp in March 2022:
- Tow a caravan along the real track onto the land.
- Clear the branches in the way, piece by piece.
- Reverse the caravan towards its pitch, get stuck in the wet ground, and unhitch it where it stands.
- Get through the first night on battery power.
- Build the power system and bring in the camp's first water.
Some props are still placeholder models, and the sound is a first pass. The Unreal game is not online yet.

Before the Unreal game there was a top-down browser prototype, and it is still online at https://camp.agoro.games: a week at the camp, eight hours of work time a day, and five camp systems to keep up (power, water, food, comfort and parts). The video below shows that browser version.

The figurines
I print figurines of the characters myself, in my studio, and finish them by hand. The photos below are real prints. The first wave is 300 figurines, first come, first served, printed in magenta. Other colours come later, only after test prints pass.

In my trailers the figurines also come alive. These loops are AI animations, and each one is labelled. The first starts from a photo of my real prints. The others start from concept renders of the finish add-on in marble, granite and cork, which I have not printed yet.

On the table
Three co-op tabletop games are in design: the Agoro Road board game and the Agoro Road card game, with the same road, stamps and travellers, and an Agoro Camp board game, Seasons of the Camp, about building the camp together. The pictures of them are concept renders, and the rulebooks are print-and-play drafts that have not been playtested yet.
- Everyone who backs this campaign gets an early-backer discount code for these board games, and hears first when they open for orders.
- Super early bird backers also get first access to their first print run.

What backers get
- Supporters from €5: your name in both games, the digital artbook, the print-and-play rules with 3D files to print at home, and an early-backer discount code for the board games.
- Both games, in four steps: first backers (200 places), super early bird (the next 100), early bird (the next 300), then the regular price, which stays the same in the late pledge.
- Agoro Road on its own: in the same four steps. Agoro Camp on its own: in the same four steps, too.
- Every backer: an early-backer discount code for the board games, and the first notice when they open for orders.
- Figurine backers: a figurine from the first wave of 300.
- Your character in the Agoro Universe: 5 super-early-bird places, 5 early-bird places, then 20 more: you become a character in Agoro Camp and Agoro Road and receive your MetaHuman character as a file. Five further places, Your Story in the Agoro Universe, add your own story and missions and can be paid in 3 installments with Stretch Pay. How and where each person appears is my decision, so that it fits the style and the culture of the games.
The campaign runs as an Express campaign from 16 October to 30 November 2026, with no funding goal, subject to Gamefound's compliance check.

When you get the games
Agoro Road: a Windows and Mac build right away through itch.io, as an Early Access build, then Steam Early Access, planned for November, and your Steam key once Agoro Road is on sale there. Agoro Camp: playtest builds for Windows and Mac through itch.io during the campaign, then Steam Early Access in December, after the campaign. Both games are planned for full release in January 2027, at €19.99 for Agoro Road and €49.99 for Agoro Camp. Every future DLC and add-on stays free for everyone who owns the game. Digital stretch-goal extras arrive within one week of the goal being reached.

Built in public
I build both games in public, together with AI agents that write code, prepare assets and keep the project notes. I review every step, decide what goes in, and I am responsible for everything that ships. This page, too, was drafted with an AI agent.

How AI is used
Parts of both games are made with AI tools, and every generated piece is reviewed before it goes into a game. 3D models of characters and props start from concept art in Tripo and are prepared in Blender. Some concept art, trailer shots and trailer music are generated with AI models, and AI-generated scenes in the trailers are labelled. Much of the code is written with AI coding agents.
Shipping
Figurines ship from Germany as one tracked DHL parcel, hand-packed by me. You pay postage once per order, not per figurine: one parcel holds up to 2 kg, which is about 60 figurines. Digital rewards (games, keys, files) have no shipping cost. Postage is added at checkout.

- Germany: €6
- Other EU countries: €12
- Europe outside the EU (UK, Switzerland, Norway …): €23
- Africa: €26
- North and South America: €27
- Asia, Australia and Oceania, rest of world: €28
Outside the EU and the UK, your country may charge import taxes or duties when the parcel arrives. I can’t ship to a few countries because of sanctions or because DHL does not deliver there, so they are not offered at checkout.
