About
Atrapos is a new tabletop roleplaying game from SoulMuppet Publishing, where your heroic characters are cursed for betraying the will of the Gods.
Inspired by Greek epics and tragedies, Atrapos’ setting is delivered through thousands of lines of in-world poetry. This is a play-to-lose game, focusing on epic heroes, epic deeds and escalating stakes, and sharing the same engine as SoulMuppet’s hit game: Inevitable.
The cover of Atrapos is the most ambitious we’ve ever made. We’ve used cutting edge techniques to transform a real mosaic into a 3D book cover, using a combination of different varnish types and debossing to bring the mosaic to life.
The original creative team from Inevitable return for Atrapos, with Zachary Cox (@JellyMuppet) taking charge of writing (including a LOT of in-world poetry), and art provided by Klur Arts, whose digital illustrations depict the world of Vasiliagos and its doomed heroes.

The System & Rules
Atrapos uses the same rules-light D6-based story-game-inspired engine as its sister-game Inevitable. Your characters are fabled heroes participating in the legends of the downfall of their civilisation, and instead of having stats they have Reputations that show how they are spoken of in the epic stories that will follow.
Is your Fearsome warrior Ill-Fated, Valiant and Insolent or Dashing, Gracious and Bold? Will your Cunning hero be Pious, Patient and Thoughtful or instead Unshakeable, Discrete and Unprincipled? As well as defining your character's presence in the story and acting as a roleplaying guide, Reputations are also used in the game’s resolution mechanics.
The campaign is split into single session Labours and multi-session Divine Trials, each of which has a Threat preventing the characters from succeeding. While building towards the climactic Struggle, your characters will enter Challenges, where you build a dice pool by answering questions about your Reputations and the obstacles you face. Following a Challenge, you might gain advantages on your current Labour if you succeed, or have the Threat of the Labour increase if you fail.
At the climatic point of the story, your characters will enter a Struggle against the wrath of the Gods. During a Struggle, you negotiate with the Storyteller about what your character is prepared to lose in this conflict, gaining larger bonuses the more your character is willing to sacrifice.
Over the course of the campaign, your Reputations will change as a result of your actions. Will your characters remain steadfast and uphold their ideals in the face of adversity? Or will they sacrifice their values in a hopeless attempt to save themselves and their civilisation?
The rules for Atrapos are so simple that we managed to fit them into a A4 quickstart "beakzine" booklet, which you can print out at home or use digitally. It comes with five characters, a multi-session adventure and all the rules you need to play. It's free on our webstore, and you honestly have no excuse not to grab a copy right now. In the adventure, players reckon with the Stormlord, God of Seas, Storms and Love, while attempting to find a ship to escape the isle of Masevos.
The Cover
Atrapos’ cover is a mosaic we commissioned from Catherine Parkinson, a Bristol-based artist.
We scanned it in three dimensions for the next stage. The “tesserae” (tiles) will be finished with a gloss-varnish, while the grout lines between them will be debossed into the hardcover and finished with a sand varnish. Atrapos will look and feel like you have a mosaic on your game table.
Our friends at Runefable have also designed a premium dice set to go with the book: a hand-made resin set with a hand-painted miniature penteconter ship trapped inside. The ship itself was designed by CJ Shearwood of Epigram Games.

The Solo Game
We like it when are games are easy to play and there’s a reason to play them, and sometimes you can’t always wait for a group to show up. We’ve partnered once more with Elliot Davis on Atrapos’ solo game: The Pantheon.
This A5 add-on zine is a set of 6 mini solo games inspired by the Gods of Atrapos. Each uses a combination of dice and playing cards to help you flesh out the characters, world, and more in order to elevate your next campaign of Atrapos. You aren’t just playing them for fun, each is its own prep tool for building out a different part of the setting.
You might be planning a party on a strange island during the map-making game The Stormlord’s Revelry, playing a boastful push-your-luck game as you tell the tales of dead heroes in The Lady’s Patience, or making a horrible, misunderstood monster in the contemplative journaling game The Wandbearer’s Children.
The Sister Game
Atrapos’ sister game is Inevitable, an Arthurian Western roleplaying game for 2-6 players and a GM, where your party of disastrously sad cowboy knights fail to stop the apocalypse. This 284 page book contains all the rules, character creation and the setting for your campaign, thoroughly and evocatively detailing The Barren, the lands surrounding the Kingdom of Myth. It has the same writer, game engine and artist as Atrapos, and also looks great on your table.
Fulfilment & Delivery
Due to the constant global turmoil we find ourselves in, it is difficult to estimate the final cost of shipping this far in advance. We are doing our level best to mitigate these challenges and make sure we get you a fair deal. No part of this project will be manufactured in China to avoid the impact of tariffs or other trade restrictions.
We'll be charging shipping at a later date via a pledge manager on Backerkit. You will be able to add new items there, supply address details and alter your pledge, right up until we begin fulfilment.
We have two points of fulfillment, one in the US and one in the UK. Our non-US orders are all fulfilled by our UK warehouse. We will be prepaying EU VAT and Import Duties, and you will be charged the appropriate amount via Backerkit, so there will be no surprise charges.
We’ll be using the SoulMuppet store to supply you with digital rewards, which will be released as soon as they’re available, as well as providing PDFs through DriveThruRPG and itch.io codes.
