BACKROOMS: The Board Game

BACKROOMS: The Board Game
You wake up in what seems like an endless labyrinth that doesn't seem to make sense.
Explore, survive, decide who you can trust, and find a way out
HOW TO PLAY
Your goal is to survive the backrooms, by reaching the exit with the key.
There are 3 phases for the game. Each phase has a specific number of rooms, with Phase I having 20 rooms. You need to accomplish 2 of 3 objectives each phase, in order to unlock the next phase of rooms.
OPTIONAL: HIDDEN MOTIVES
Each player gets a hidden motive card, which indicates their win condition for the game. Sometimes, it can mean that you need another player to not survive, for you to win. Sometimes, there's no motive. This mechanic works best with 4 players.
Each player starts with 2 lives and 3 sanity. These are represented by red and blue crystals, respectively. Lives can be lost when you fail to escape entities, or certain encounters. Sanity keeps you stable, but it can also be spent to do extra actions, re-roll dice, or redraw tokens. If you lose all of your sanity, there's a chance of you to go insane on your next turn. You will do a sanity check by rolling the dice. You must get 7 or higher to stay sane. If not, you will then use your turn to go to the nearest player, and attempt to attack them.
On each player's turn, they can do 2 actions:
- Move - Allows you to move to an adjacent room, both rooms must be connected by doors shown on the room tile.
- Search - You can search for items in loot rooms. Each loot room can be searched twice, indicated by 2 yellow crystals.
- Rest - You can rest by drawing a success token in the draw bag. This allows you to regain 1 sanity. If you fail, the threat level increases by 1.
- Use - You can use items. Some items do not require an action, such as passive effects (e.g. +1 to your rolls), or free actions (e.g. gain 1 sanity).
- Give/Take - You can give or take items from a nearby player. This can be done between players in adjacent rooms. You need 1 action per item.
- Help - If you are in an adjacent room to a player, you can spend 1 sanity to help them, by rolling a single dice that will be added to their roll value.
