Battle Box - Sagas est un jeu de guerre complet dédié aux escarmouches, présenté dans une petite boîte en fer-blanc qui tient dans la poche et dont l'action se déroule à l'époque des âges sombres. Il comprend 12 pions de 2 couleurs, un champ de bataille modulable composé de 3 bandes recto-verso, 6 dés et un paquet de 36 cartes d'action, offrant ainsi une expérience de jeu de guerre complète dans une seule boîte. À chaque tour, un joueur joue des cartes de sa main, en choisissant entre différentes actions telles qu’une avancée tactique vers l’objectif, le ralliement de ses guerriers à bout de souffle grâce à un cri de guerre, la riposte à une attaque ennemie, la charge au cœur de la bataille et bien d’autres actions uniques adaptées à l’époque des sagas vikings. Les objectifs du jeu sont définis par les scénarios fournis avec le jeu ou par les joueurs eux-mêmes. Les combats se résolvent en lançant plusieurs dés à six faces et en conservant le résultat le plus élevé, en fonction de la carte d’action utilisée et de la situation tactique des guerriers. Présentation de la campagne

Battle Box - Sagas is a complete skirmish wargame in a small tin box that fits in your pocket. It includes 10 warrior meeples in black and red, a configurable battlefield in 3 double sided strips, 6 dice, and a deck of 36 mini action cards, providing a full wargaming experience in a mint tin box.

The rules in the box are a compressed version of the historical wargaming rules that are also offered in this campaign as a separate item: Threads of War (see details below).

Some rewards (also an add-on) include Reinforcements: Vikings!, which gives you 10 more warriors in green and blue, making 4 player battles easier to play. It also includes enough stickers for 24 warriors, enabling the advanced rules for fighting style.

Threads of War is a fast and cinematic historical wargaming ruleset aiming for fun and fierce skirmishes between small warbands in any period where shields, swords, axes and spears dominate the battlefield; such as the the Viking conquests, the Crusades, the wars of the Romans, or even a fantasy medieval tournament. The rulebook includes optional rules, examples and several narrative scenarios in a 60+ pages digest size softcover book; plus a 36 action card deck called the Fate Deck that contains a summary of the rules on the box for easy reference during play.

The book includes advanced rules such as warrior quality, fighting styles, combat edges, and warband traits. Here is an example of the basic card-driven play:

You can use miniatures from any manufacturer and almost any period (not supplied with any reward in this campaign). Around 5-6 warriors per player is the ideal number, which you can usually get from a single sprue from many manufacturers.

These look a bit better than the meeples, even with stickers, and needing only 6 warriors per side they are a very achievable hobby goal!

You can play Threads of War in a small battlefield of approximately 12x12 inches, from a printed A4 paper to a fully detailed bespoke battlefield like the ones in the examples above. Movement is based on "steps" which can be defined as inches, hexes, or simply base widths.

In this playtest we used livestock to measure steps, but you can also use the base of the warrior you are moving if you hate sheep and goats.

Some rewards (also as add-ons) include a neoprene battle mat with 10x18 hex grids for either Northern European or Mediterranean battlefields. Using an hex grid eliminates the need for measuring and makes melee engagements simpler to determine, making the game faster and easier for both new an veteran players.

We have a final prototype and we are ready to manufacture and send to backers as soon as Kickstarter's Pledge Manager is closed. The Pledge Manager will open a week after the funding campaign ends and will remain open for 3 weeks.

Shipping and taxes are not included in the reward price and it will be charged separately - if applicable - via the Pledge Manager. Our current estimates for shipping one item are £7 in the US, and £10 in the UK, EU and most of the rest of the world, but please note that these can change. Each additional item will add £2-3 to the cost of shipping.

All items are manufactured and shipped from USA, so there is a chance that your reward might be stopped by EU customs on arrival for additional payments depending on your country. UK customs stops packages over £135 value (including shipping), so it depends on your reward and add-ons.
