Introducing Battle of the Species, an easy-to-learn card-and-dice game where Earth’s most iconic animals face off in hilarious and thrilling battles.  

BATTLE OF THE SPECIES

Battle of the Species is a game of epic animal dice-battles. The animals in Battle of the Species range from the powerful (Bull Elephant) to the venomous (Poison Dart Frog) to the ingenious (Squirrel). Animals are ranked from 1 to 5.

Species battle by rolling to Attack and Defend, and by using their Cunning to strategically reroll dice. When battling in their native habitats, Species also unlock their unique native ability, making battles even more dynamic.

Team up as Allies or play Wild Cards to gain hilarious boosts or inflict calamities on your opponents as you race to win.

The Team

We're three brothers who grew up playing games together. Like many families in the 1980s and 90s we loved the classics - Monopoly, Risk, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Scrabble and more.

And with a big family and creative parents, less mainstream games entered our orbit. These included Cribbage, Casino, Silent Partner Hearts, and fantasy games like Sorcerer's Cave.      

But we had the most fun when we created our own games, developed over hours of discussion and debate in the living room, backyard, and during long family road trips in our 1981 VW Vanagon. 

Battle of the Species isn't the first game we've made but it might be our best, and we're excited to share it with the world. And though it's a new and an original game, it’s based on a concept as old as humanity itself. 

People have always been fascinated by scenarios pitting different animals against each other (and against ourselves...), speculating and debating which animal would ultimately be victorious. That's why our tag line for Battle of the Species is "Earth's Oldest Game." 

Our goal with Battle of the Species was to make a super fun game that's a dynamic blend of strategy, chaos, and imagination which ultimately becomes a family favorite.
