BILT Magic

Welcome to BILT: Magic! 

This is the first major rules expansion to BILT Among The Stars, and requires that book for play. The good news is the core rules are an add-on to this Kickstarter and available at several tiers as well, so if you're new to the game, there's never been a better time to jump in!

Fully Funded, and a Stretch Goal!

First, a HUGE thank you to everyone who has backed so far! We're overwhelmed at the positive response!

Second, we'd like to announce a stretch goal! If the campaign reaches $400, all backers at all tiers will also receive a mini-campaign and introductory adventure, "Streets Run Red". Streets Run Red is a modern magical campaign hook, and is designed to work equally well with BILT: Modern Ops and BILT: Magic, either individually or together.

🩸 Streets Run Red 

The time: today. The place: Los Angeles. And for the detectives of the 7th Homicide Division, the streets have turned into a warzone. Rival gangs battle for territory and innocents are caught in the crossfire.

And then, something began killing the criminals. The hunters have become the hunted. Some of your fellow detectives took this as a welcome sign of karmic correction, but your Lieutenant knows better. Stanhope and Bedlam, a vampire lord and an ancient werewolf, have returned. The Lieutenant encountered them when he was a rookie, and has never forgotten. They will not confine the slaughter to criminals. They hunt for sport, in a twisted competition with each other to see which can get the most kills.

What is BILT Among The Stars?

BILT Among The Stars (affectionately called BATS from here on out) is a game that takes place across 5 Tech Eras, from the Ancient Era (everything before gunpowder), to the Modern Era (YOU ARE HERE), to the Near Future, Space Opera, and Far Future. 

Limitless Creation: If it Exists, You Can Build it.

The system focuses on player agency, with every item in the game being craftable and modifiable, from swords, to small arms, to vehicles, to starships. If an item exists in the game, you don't need to wait for a lucky treasure drop, you just need the right base materials and the right skills, and that item can be yours.

This also frees up the Game Master to create the campaign and adventures they feel will be the most compelling for the players. They do not need to take a player's build or specific needs into account. Players can break down whatever they do find and use that to make what they feel their character needs to thrive.  

Adding Magic to the Mix.

BILT: Magic applies this ethos to magic. High level, unique monsters can be harvested for Essence, in order to enchant magical items. Every item in the game is buildable, from the most basic flaming sword, to artifacts like Excalibur. 

For the Game Master, the game provides a full suite of rules to create unique creatures, made more powerful by Essence, in minutes, to challenge their players. These rules work hand in hand with the crafting rules from the core game. So BATS Core will tell you how to modify a pistol into a submachine gun, and BILT: Magic will tell you how to enchant it. 

Magic for All Eras

BILT: Magic provides rules and guidance for magic across all 5 Tech Eras, a full magic system, and expanded creature creation rules, including the addition of Essence to creatures. It provides full guidance on several new creature types, including Dragons, Giants, Lycanthropes, and Undead (including vampires).

The BILT universe is ever-expanding, with new material being released regularly, expanding your universe in new and exciting ways. And we're just getting started!
