Boarders and Black Flags is a miniatures skirmish game of high seas action. Players must both make and repel boarding actions with their scurvy crews, featuring:
- Fast playing, low minis count skirmishes: Narrative games based around tabletop play rather than list building and force acquisition.
- Asymmetrical and balanced factions, scenarios and play: Play as both boarder and host each game to be certain of a fair deal.
- Highly dynamic battlefields: Combat on the surface of a shifting deck has a character all of its own. Send crew overboard or crush them with sliding debris.
- Bluffing and deception: Each turn, use your lying dice to replace rolls that didn't go your way, then fake out your opponent as they try to read you.
- Narrative progression system: When you play linked games you'll be adding symmetrical effects to both yourself and your opponent, adding narrative and mixing up play, but never building advantage. Play a campaign system without suffering leader's snowballing advantages and the drop outs that come from it. Even play your campaign forces in pick up games!
Man O' Kent games is a tiny independent games publishers. What this means for us is that without the up-front funds of a Kickstarter we will be unlikely to justify printing and distribution of a game such as Boarders and Black Flags, so the first reason to back now is that without your backing the game is unlikely to exist. The other thing that being such a small company means is that we struggle to achieve distribution or retail placement, so while our projects are not Kickstarter exclusives you are unlikely to see them in general retail even if we succeed. Unless you're lucky enough to catch us live at a convention this will be the best shipping price and lowest cost version of our games you'll ever see, so waiting for retail is unlikely to be an option.
We have completed and fulfilled six previous Kickstarter projects, we're here for the long haul and are committed to supporting everything we do into the future. You can rely on us to hold up our end of the bargain, but we can't do it without you. This isn't a pre-order that you can just get onto the standard delivery version of later, this is for real.

While we have licenses to sell prints of our minis, we do not have the right to sell the STLs directly. However, they're available direct from their creators.

Who We Are
We are Man O' Kent Games, an independent games designer and publisher. Boarders and Black Flags is our tenth Kickstarter project following successful backing and fulfillment for SSO, Moonflight, Turing and others. We are led by Glenn Ford who previously Designed Pukeapocalypse by Exalted Funeral, and was Lead Developer on Osprey Games' Gaslands (winner of the People's and Judge's Choice Awards at UKGE 2018) and A Billion Suns and Electi Studio's Hobgoblin (winner of the People's and Judge's Choice Awards at UKGE 2024). Artwork is by George Sellas and Bluepepper Designs, manufacture and fulfillment will be by Aetherworks. Sculpts are provided by Battle Yak Miniatures, Ravi Sampath and Lost Hobbyist.
