Bug Out: Escape your Paranoia

Pledge Levels:

Where the Preparations Stand:

From Paper to Paranoia Video Sample

The Paranoia all started in 2013 with the first hand drawn test concept for playtesting. BugOut was designed and physically played with these hand-drawn components in 2013, before printing color versions used in at-home prepping, i mean play, for many years.

We Progressed thru multiple stages of human revisions... years before generative AI was available for aid in developing this edition.. And now the AI maybe the reason we need to Bugout...

Follow along as we nervously watch the mailbox for our final prototype.
From there, then we inspect every card, tile, and suspicious little detail before giving the final designs the all-clear.

Trust nothing. Check everything.

Backer Questions:

Click here to READ THE RULEBOOK.
- Is this a take-that game?
There is definitely player interaction. Players can remove tiles, redirect SCAVENGERS, rob opponents, lock Bunkers, and use certain cards against one another. But Bug Out is also about building your own route, managing Supplies, and deciding when survival matters more than revenge. - Can two players play?
Yes. Bug Out supports 2–4 players. In 2–3 player games, unused-color Bunkers are considered abandoned and are worth a +3 Prepper Point bonus if you escape into one. - Is the rulebook available?
Yes. The rulebook is complete and available to review before the campaign ends. We’re currently finishing the final illustrated A5 edition and incorporating the last round of prototype testing. French Version. Deutsch Version. Spanish Version. - When will shipping be charged?
Shipping will be collected separately after the campaign, rather than being included in the pledge amount. Current estimates are listed directly below this section by region and pledge level. - Are the images final production art or prototypes?
The campaign shows a mixture of production-intended artwork, digital mockups, and prototype presentations. The final production prototype is expected in October and will be photographed and shared as soon as it arrives. Minor adjustments may still be made for print quality, margins, component fit, or manufacturing requirements.

GENERATIVE AI DISCLOSURE
Bug Out: Escape Your Paranoia began as my original game design in 2013. Its first components were hand-drawn paper prototypes, which I later redrew, scanned and refined using Photoshop.
During development of the current edition and its campaign, I have also used generative AI tools, including ChatGPT and AI image-generation tools, under my direction. This assistance includes:
- Game and packaging visuals: generating and editing decorative box illustrations, backgrounds, textures and Bug Out title graphics; revising selected Supply Card graphics and wording, including the Bug Out Map and BRIBE cards; and creating decorative artwork and layouts for rulebook pages.
- Campaign graphics and mockups: generating and editing campaign backgrounds, pledge-tier illustrations, box and component mockups, component collages, instructional graphics and promotional imagery.
- Written content: assistance drafting, organizing and editing campaign descriptions, reward descriptions, FAQs, updates, promotional scripts and rulebook explanations.
- Development support: assistance with rules wording clarification, design suggestions, digital playtest tools and analysis of proposed rule changes.
AI-generated and AI-edited artwork is included in both promotional materials and artwork intended for printed game components.
The original game concept and initial prototype are my work. I make the final decisions about mechanics, rules, balance, component specifications and production, informed by physical playtesting and player feedback. I select, review and approve the final artwork, wording and manufacturing files.
Illustrated product renders and pledge-tier graphics show the intended presentation of the game. They are mockups rather than photographs of manufactured copies.
I remain responsible for the accuracy of the campaign, the final game and delivery of the promised rewards. This disclosure will remain available on the campaign page and will be updated if the scope of AI use changes.
