What's in the Book?

Castleton brings you 300+ pages of love, lore and lethality in this 'Bridgeton' meets 'The Hunger Games' inspired world. Learn about the Gods, their meddling children and all the romanceable NPCs you can throw at your players, whilst exploring the fighting and flirting of a Matching Season battle-royal, all in the name love. Date locations? Check. Devastating monsters to fight in live broadcasted gladiatorial pits? Of course! Not to mention that this setting is compatible with any and all fantasy TTRPG systems!

Romanceable NPCs

Castleton strives to make the ‘fighting for love’ truly about the fighting, so that means none of the romanceable NPCs subscribe to a strict alignment of sexuality or preferences. The biggest obstacles may come from social politics or overbearing parental figures, NOT whether your character is "their type." 

And more than that, we wanted to bring an array of intriguing characters of all backgrounds, body types, pronouns and skillsets so that your characters can find their Perfect Match. Options will be the least of your character's worries when it comes to your own Matching Season. 

Fantasy Date Locations

Have a dalliance with destiny, as they say, from the bioluminescent botanic gardens to the aether train dinette. The Castle has every which way to romance your Match, and if you have a specific date location or activity in mind, aether magic can make wonders in a pinch! 

Combat Arenas & Devastating Monsters

Every 3 years the Matching Season held at The Castle gets more vicious and even more cut-throat, especially when the Demigod of Beasts is breeding ungodly creations to pit against the Unmatched in their trials. What better way to prove yourself as strong future Match by taking down a ferocious Wasp-Wyrm or an oversized Cobra Ogre?

Gods, Demigods, Magic Items & Weapons

Having a hierarchy of Gods, Demigods and Mortals all invested in a Matching Season for their own reasons, only highlights the imbalance of power when the Gods govern these "games" through their offspring in the floating Demigod city. Will you change the system or play their game?

Inspired by the Actual Play

The World of 'Castleton' was brought to life by AJ Winters of Winters Tales in an Actual Play series featuring 120+ content creators who played in their own Matching Season as Unmatched participants (Mortals, Demigods & even Gods.) 

And now several of our NPCs (both Romanceable or otherwise) are inspired by the player characters created for and seen in the Actual Play series. That way all you fan-fiction writers and OP creators out there can re-write your own ending to their stories!

Our Team

This is the first supplement published by Winters Tales (the 1st D&D studio in Australia) in the pursuit of unique stories and intriguing settings to match. 

We put together a team of 9 women who share a love of TTRPGs (as well as an intense passion for this project.) While most of us didn't know each other before this project, we were brought together through our shared goals to both inspire and create for the community, and to fulfil that desire with a diverse powerhouse of a team. But if we're honest with ourselves, this is just the beginning.
