Unleash the Full Power of Meowgic!

The cats of CATaclysm have survived the apocalypse… but now, ancient secrets stir beneath their paws. The Tome of Meowgic is a brand-new expansion filled with arcane wonders, meowgical relics, malevolent foes, and a brand-new adventure from guest writer William C. Cronk.

New to CATaclysm? No problem.

Every pledge includes the digital core rulebook PDF. You’ll have everything you need to begin your adventure from day one.

Whether you're a veteran of the original CATaclysm RPG or a new catventurer looking to pounce into the action for the first time, this expansion is for you.

Why Kickstarter?

  • It works. We've done this before. Our original CATaclysm Kickstarter was successfully funded and fullfilled.
  • Quality costs money. We're a small gaming company with big ideas. Crowdfunding lets us invest directly in the things that make a great game: professional printing, premium full-colour interiors, and the time needed to get everything just right. Your pledge is what makes that possible.
  • Real writers. Real artists. Every creator on this project is a human being who deserves to be paid fairly for their work. Kickstarter funding goes directly to the people who make CATaclysm what it is.
  • You make it real. CATaclysm exists because of this community. Kickstarter gives you a direct stake in bringing it to life. We would be honoured to list your name along with everyone who brought this project to fruition.

Stop the Slop: Powered by Human Intelligence

We know the TTRPG community cares deeply about this, and so do we. Every word and illustration in The Tome of Meowgic is the work of human writers and artists. No AI was used to generate any creative content in this book. Full stop.

Akinji Entertainment has published an AI Usage Policy that governs how we work. Every piece of copy, art, and game design you see from us is human-made.
We believe in human creativity and we believe in paying artists and writers who create with us.
Read our full AI Usage Policy at akinji.com/ai-policy.

What is CATaclysm?

The humans are gone. No one knows exactly what happened or when they left, but in their absence, cats evolved into the apex species on earth. They built cities from the ruins of human civilization. They forged weapons, governments, and alliances. They discovered Meowgic: a mystical force gifted to them by Mommy Nurtur, the source of their fabled nine lives.

And out in the Miasma-choked wastelands beyond the city walls? Rats, toads, and frogs — twisted by the same corrupting force that drove the humans away — wait for their moment.

CATaclysm: The Roleplaying Game is a fast, accessible tabletop RPG built around a single ten-sided die and a streamlined ruleset that can be learned and played in a single sitting. It is designed for players of all experience levels — newcomers and seasoned veterans alike — and delivers a game that is equal parts whimsical and epic.

Your Hero. Your Legend.

Original Breeds art from the CATaclysm RPG by Kasia Slupecka (from left to right): Egyptian Mau, Maine Coon, and Manx.

Every Hero begins with a Breed — nine to choose from in the core rulebook, each with distinct mechanical traits. Maine Coons are powerful seafarers who shrug off water with ease. Egyptian Mau are lightning-fast loyalists who can give their reflexes to an ally in a pinch. Manx are mysterious Meowgicians with a sixth sense for danger. Persians are cool-headed intellectuals who don’t scare easily. Bengals move with the confidence of apex predators. Each Breed shapes not just your stats, but your identity.

Original Paradigms art from the CATaclysm RPG by Kasia Slupecka (from left to right): Smelly Cat, Ragdoll, and Black Cat.

Layer on a Paradigm — your archetype and fighting style — then distribute Talent points across nine core abilities, choose your Feats, and you have a Hero as unique as the cat sitting on your keyboard right now.

Nine Talents. One Die. Four Phases.

CATaclysm’s Ph4se Lite system keeps the table moving. Roll a d10, add your relevant Talent score, hit the Required Result — done. No stacks of modifiers, no table-flipping confusion. What you do get is a Life-Force system that tracks your Hero’s condition across four phases: green (optimal), yellow (stressed), red (critical), and black (dead). Temporarily, of course. Because cats have nine lives — and in CATaclysm, they use every last one of them.

Meowgic and Miasma

The world’s two great forces are at war. Meowgic — the mystical energy granted to cats by Mommy Nurtur — can be wielded to attack foes, heal allies, or bend reality to your will. Miasma is its dark counterpart: a corrupting, poisonous substance that empowers the rat hordes and threatens everything cats have built. Some Heroes dare to wield Miasma too. That path comes with consequences.

CATaclysm debuted at Gen Con 2016, was successfully Kickstarted in 2017, and has been building its community ever since. The Tome of Meowgic is the next chapter — and it’s the one Meowgic-wielding players have been waiting for.

The Book

The Tome of Meowgic is a 130 page, full colour expansion for CATaclysm: The Roleplaying Game — the fantasy TTRPG where heroic cats wield steel, stealth, and Meowgic in a world filled with danger, wonder, and whiskered destiny.

This supplement dramatically expands character customization, meowgical depth, and replayability — while staying true to CATaclysm’s whimsical yet epic tone. Whether you’re a seasoned spellcaster or a curious newcomer, the Tome of Meowgic opens new paths to power.

The Clutch of the Ancient Squamata

High stakes. Whimsical danger. Kitten-nappings. An ancient Gila Monster with apocalyptic ambitions. Jump straight into play the moment the book arrives.

By William C. Cronk
Something is draining the Meowgic from Pawsburgh’s most powerful spellcasters and to make matters worse; the city’s kittens are going missing. At the heart of it all is Anaximander, an ancient Gila Monster Salamancer and First Acolyte of the Clutch of the Ancient Squamata, whose sinister plan reaches further than anyone dares imagine: the resurrection of a colossal beast of the world’s past, whose very bones now serve as the Clutch’s Temple-Lair.

The Venerable Elm Whisker (Alia Moosvi)

The Clutch of the Ancient Squamata is a ready-to-run adventure set in the vibrant city of Pawsburgh; a renowned meowtropolis of arcane learning… and the secrets that lie beneath it. It is designed as a sandbox: the Heroes can go wherever the trail of Meowgic-laced pillows and kitten-nappings leads them, uncovering the Clutch’s conspiracy at their own pace before venturing into the ancient Temple-Lair for a final confrontation.

This adventure is purpose-built to showcase the new Meowgic and Miasma rules introduced in the Tome of Meowgic. New spells, incantations, poxes, and the mephitic zone mechanics all come into play; putting everything your characters have learned to the ultimate test. It works equally well as a standalone one-off or as part of an ongoing CATaclysm campaign.
