CATOMANCY: The Summoning is a brand-new 78-card Tarot deck where the familiar symbolism of the Rider–Waite tradition is reimagined through cats and witchcraft.

Every card keeps its connection to traditional Tarot while approaching its archetype through the strange logic of the CATOMANCY world: magical cats, familiars, potions, spells, questionable experiments and the occasional magical disaster.

• The Major Arcana are inhabited by cats discovering, mastering - and sometimes spectacularly mishandling - magic itself.

• The Minor Arcana follow the familiars of witches and wizards through four reimagined suits: Potions, Wands, Glyphs and Quills.

Behind the playful illustrations is a complete Tarot deck designed for actual readings. Every card has been developed around its traditional upright and reversed meanings, giving experienced readers something familiar while offering newcomers a curious and approachable way into Tarot.

The illustrations don't simply replace familiar Tarot imagery with cats: each card was conceived as a new interpretation of the meaning behind its archetype.

Sometimes that connection is immediate. Sometimes it is hidden inside a visual joke, a magical accident or some particularly questionable feline behaviour.

Together, the 78 illustrations build a small world of witchcraft with a visual language of its own - while remaining connected to the Tarot structure underneath it.

🔮 Choose your Summoning

Choose your starting reward, then customize your pledge with additional CATOMANCY items through optional add-ons.

The smallest reward is also one of the most personal. Our CATOMANCER will randomly draw three actual cards from CATOMANCY: The Summoning. Each may appear upright or reversed, and together they will become your unique three-card reading: PAST · PRESENT · FUTURE.

The three cards will be mounted into a parchment-style sheet and their interpretation will be individually written by hand, based on the particular combination drawn for you. The parchment will then be folded and finished with a wax seal, ready to travel from the CATOMANCER's table to yours.

Every draw is random. Every combination is different. Every reading is individually made.

🏴‍☠️ Behind CATOMANCY: Pirates Workshop

CATOMANCY isn't coming from a Tarot company or a traditional publisher. It is an independent project developed within Pirates Workshop ETS, an Italian non-profit cultural association where authors, illustrators, designers and artists bring different skills together to turn creative ideas into finished works.

Crowdfunding is an important part of that model. Instead of creating products for an anonymous market, it allows us to bring an idea directly to the people who might want it to exist and, when enough of them come together, make that project possible.

By backing CATOMANCY, you're not simply ordering something from a catalogue. There is no permanent shop or commercial stock behind the campaign. You're supporting an independent project created by artists and helping us turn it into something real.

🧙 Meet the authors

CATOMANCY is created by Italian artists Marco Rocchi and Fabio Maggio, who have developed its world together from the first CATOMANCY to The Summoning. Over the years, they have worked both together and independently on numerous projects, from self-produced works to collaborations with publishers, studios and other creative productions.

Marco Rocchi is an Italian comic-book writer and illustrator whose work has been published in Italy and internationally. His books include Gert and the Sacred Stones (Dark Horse) and Il Tesoro Perduto di Nora (Star Comics), and his works have been translated into English, Spanish, French and more. Since 2022, he has been teaching at the International School of Comics in Florence.

Fabio Maggio is an Italian illustrator, designer and animator. He worked as a cleanup artist on the Netflix animated series Tear Along the Dotted Line, created by Zerocalcare, and has worked with DogHead Animation Studio and on animated projects connected to youtubers like Cydonia and Sabaku no Maiku.

👁️ Yes, you may have seen CATOMANCY before

Our first CATOMANCY had a rather unexpected life after its original crowdfunding campaign. At some point, unauthorized reproductions of the deck began appearing online. Then more appeared. And more. Today, versions reproducing our original CATOMANCY artwork can be found across online marketplaces around the world.

They were not produced, licensed or approved by us.
We won't pretend that seeing our cats travel so far isn't strangely flattering.
We'd just have preferred if they had asked permission before leaving home.

Unfortunately, unauthorized copies haven't only reproduced our artwork without permission - they have also reproduced it poorly. The versions we've encountered appear to have been made from scans of the original cards, resulting in different dimensions, reduced image quality, altered colours and noticeably inferior printing.

They even include a QR code to download a CATOMANCY reading booklet. There is just one problem: that booklet never existed. The original deck only came with a general tarot guide - a proper dedicated reading manual will be created for the first time with CATOMANCY: resPAWn, if we unlock its Stretch Goal.

So if you've encountered one of these unauthorized versions online, what you've seen does not represent CATOMANCY as it was originally designed and produced.

This campaign brings CATOMANCY back directly from its original creators, reproduced from the original artwork files and at the quality it was always meant to have.

⚙️ Production & Fulfillment

CATOMANCY: The Summoning is already well into development. Before production begins, final files and physical proofs will be checked to make sure the cards and unlocked components reproduce as intended.

We don't use third-party fulfillment companies to assemble and dispatch our rewards. Instead, we work directly with the manufacturers producing each component of the campaign. Different items may come from different specialist suppliers depending on the materials and production processes involved.

Once production is complete, everything is delivered to us. We personally check the materials, assemble the rewards, pack each pledge and prepare every parcel for shipment.

Your CATOMANCY doesn't travel from a factory to an anonymous fulfillment warehouse. It comes back to us first and we send it to you ourselves.

This gives us direct control over what goes into each package and allows us to inspect the finished components before they reach our backers. The timeline above represents our current production plan and will be updated if anything changes during the campaign.

📦 Shipping

Shipping will be collected after the campaign through Kickstarter's post-campaign pledge management system. Collecting shipping later allows us to calculate it according to the actual weight, dimensions, contents and destination of each final pledge.

The table above shows our current estimated shipping ranges. These are estimates rather than final charges, and unusually large pledges may exceed the ranges shown.

Our shipping estimates are based primarily on standard postal services, which allow us to keep international shipping costs as accessible as possible. Because these are the most economical services, tracking is not included by default for any destination or pledge. If you would prefer a faster, tracked or otherwise upgraded shipping service, we'll do our best to arrange it with you before dispatch. Any additional cost will depend on your destination, parcel size and the service requested. As we pack and dispatch rewards ourselves, we can handle these requests directly with individual backers during fulfillment.

⏳ Late pledges

The campaign may end, but the portal won't close immediately. We plan to keep Late Pledges available through Kickstarter while the project moves toward production and fulfillment. This will allow people who missed the live campaign to join later, although Late Pledge prices will be slightly higher than campaign prices.

Once Late Pledges close and production quantities are finalized, these campaign editions will no longer be regularly available directly from us. CATOMANCY isn't a conventional retail product line: we don't maintain permanent commercial stock.

The best time to summon one is while the portal is open.
