It's Christmas Eve. You're a highly trained Spec Ops Elf, you report to Santa himself, and he has given you the most important job of the night:

Yes, him, and them, and that one too. It's a dangerous mission but you've trained for this all your life, and your loyal squad-mates are by your side. Tonight, your only goal is coal.

WHAT IS THIS?

COAL OF DUTY is a one-shot tabletop RPG, blending seasonal whimsy and modern stealth warfare, as you undertake the most dangerous mission on the Christmas calendar. Its fast-paced system-light stealth mechanics let you create a tight band of comrades who work together to infiltrate tech-bro penthouses, billionaire yachts, presidential palaces and 112 Acacia Avenue, Stonybridge. The base game is 16 pages. And it costs a quid.

A quid. That's like, a buck and change, or a euro and slightly less change. For the whole game, delivered as soon as the Kickstarter finishes.

BUT THERE'S MORE

For every £75 (that's like $75 and change) that the Kickstarter raises, designer James Wallis will write an extra page of stuff for the game. Back the Kickstarter for £2 and and you'll get all the bonus material, plus your PDF will be signed by the designer. The more successful the Kickstarter, the more game you'll get. So tell your friends and get them to back it too.

You can even pay £75 and James will write a special page of the game on a subject of your choice. (Subject to veto. Must actually be relevant to the game, nothing illegal, no porn, no barges.)

WHOSE FAULT IS THIS?

James Wallis is best known as the designer of the ground-breaking Origins- and Ennie-nominated comedy RPG The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen, which Wil Wheaton described as 'One of the most insanely fun roleplaying experiences I have ever had'. He co-designed Once Upon a Time, has written nineteen books, and is a co-presenter of RPG podcast Ludonarrative Dissidents. Back in the days of history he ran Hogshead Publishing, doing games like Warhammer FRP, SLA Industries and Nobilis.

CAN I GET A PHYSICAL COPY?

Sorry, no. COAL OF DUTY is a quick-fire digital-only project: no printing, no shipping, no delays. Just elves in camo and night-vision goggles sneaking into the homes of the worst people in the world, in your inbox in early December, in time for a memorable Yuletide games night with your friends.

 For a quid.

SMALL PRINT

(The base game will be delivered to all backers as soon as the campaign is done and money has been received, in early December. A revised PDF with the bonus material and any relevant signatures and dedications will be delivered as soon as it's done, which depends on the success of the Kickstarter.)
