« La controverse arienne : un jeu mêlant hérésie et hilarité » est un jeu de stratégie léger pour deux joueurs. Se déroulant au début du IVe siècle après J.-C., un joueur incarne Arius et tente de rallier des partisans à sa thèse selon laquelle Jésus n’était pas l’égal de Dieu. Le joueur adverse incarne Alexandre, évêque d’Alexandrie, et tente de convaincre le monde que Jésus était égal à Dieu. Les joueurs doivent se déplacer rapidement sur le plateau, diffusant leur message à travers l’Europe, le Moyen-Orient et l’Afrique. À leur tour, les joueurs piochent deux cartes, chacune comportant un certain nombre de points d’action. En utilisant une carte pour ses points d’action, le joueur se déplace sur le plateau et pose des cubes de soutien. L’autre carte est mise de côté, pour être utilisée lors du concile de Nicée. Au concile de Nicée, les joueurs débattent à l’aide des cartes qu’ils ont mises de côté afin d’obtenir davantage de soutien pour leur position. Une fois toutes les cartes écartées, le joueur ayant obtenu le plus de soutien remporte la partie, tandis que son adversaire est qualifié d’hérétique. « The Arian Controversy : A Game of Heresy and Hilarity » vous fait vivre, dans le confort de votre salon, toute la tension et les échanges virulents des premières controverses chrétiennes !

CONTROVERSY is the natural next step in that journey — but its story started somewhere unexpected… around a table with a group of kids.

The original idea came from our 14-year-old son, Henry.

Out of pure boredom, Henry and his friend Philip started inventing funny “call-out” cards and challenging each other that led to nonstop laughter, wild debates, and those “No way you picked me!” moments everyone loves.

What started as handwritten cards made at home quickly turned into a homemade prototype. Henry and Philip kept adding prompts, testing ideas, and playing round after round to make it funnier, sharper, and more unpredictable.

And they didn’t build it alone.

Special thanks to the original CONTROVERSY playtest crew — brother Julius, Lucas, Matt, Chris, Jackson, Aidan, Jack and cousins - James, Jackson, and Rafi — whose reactions, debates, and honest feedback helped shape many of the prompts in the game today.

Some of the best ideas came straight from those early game nights.

That’s when we realized this wasn’t just a funny homemade project — it was the foundation for something bigger.

Something worth bringing to life.

So we took that original spark and developed CONTROVERSY into the game you see today: a bold social experience designed to spark reactions, reveal truths, and create unforgettable moments.
