Coven Blitz is a fast-paced, competitive card game for 2-4 players, set in a colourful world of witches, enchanted creatures and unpredictable magic. Choose from 4 witches, each belonging to a different school of magic. Gather magical ingredients, brew powerful potions, fulfil orders for the most bizarre customers, and become the star of the coven. But plan your moves carefully: rival witches and unexpected events may turn the finest spell into delightful chaos.

Easy to learn, quick to play, and filled with tactical choices, Coven Blitz is designed for both casual players and fans of fantasy card games.

A Deck Full of Magic

In Coven Blitz, four types of cards bring the game to life: witches, potions, customers and ingredients. Gather ingredients, brew potions and fulfil customers’ requests to earn victory points, while using your personal witch deck to gain an advantage and stir up trouble around the table.

Witch Cards
Each witch has her own personal deck, featuring her portrait on the back and the objects and creatures that help her on the front. These cards give each witch a distinct playstyle, with ways to gain an advantage and stir up trouble.

Potion Cards
These cards show the magical potions you can brew and the ingredients needed to make them. Each potion belongs to one of the four magic schools and can help you fulfil a customer’s request.

Customer Cards
Meet the demanding customers seeking your magical concoctions. Fulfil their requests with the right potions to earn victory points and get closer to winning. The customer illustrations are still in progress :)

Ingredient Cards
Gather ingredients from the central market and combine them to brew your potions. The ingredient illustrations are still in progress :)

Game Rules

Let’s Play a Turn
A little planning, a well-timed spell and the right ingredients can turn a promising recipe into a satisfied customer. Here’s how Coven Blitz plays.

1. Choose Your Witch
Choose one of the four witches, then take 4 random cards from her 12 card deck to use throughout the game. Your selection shapes the tricks and opportunities you’ll bring to the table.

2. Set the Table
Before the first round, shuffle the ingredient, potion and customer decks separately. Place nine ingredient cards face up in a 3 × 3 grid, then reveal four potions and four customers in two separate rows. Place each remaining deck face down beside its cards.

The player whose birthday is closest takes the first turn, and play proceeds clockwise.

3. Gather Magical Ingredients
Take up to three adjacent ingredient cards from the central market. Look at the available recipes and customers to decide which ingredients will move your plans forward.

4. Brew a Potion
Have the ingredients for an available potion? Pay its recipe and move the potion to your play area. Keep it ready for a customer’s request.

5. Fulfil a Customer’s Request
Deliver the potions a customer asks for, claim their card and earn its victory points. The delivered potions are spent.

You can gather ingredients, brew a potion and fulfil a request in the same turn.

A Little Witchcraft
Play your chosen witch cards during your turn to shape the market, transform your resources or influence a customer. Choosing the right moment can open a new opportunity.

Pass the Turn
At the end of your turn, discard any ingredients above your hand limit of seven, then refill the shared area to nine ingredients, four potions and four customers. The next witch takes her turn.

The player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins.

Meet the four witches of Coven, the stars of the game, each with her own personality, playstyle and school of magic: Alchemy, Enchantment, Nature or Cosmos. Choose your favourite and use her unique witch deck to brew your way to victory. Try a different witch each time you play to discover new strategies and ways to enjoy the game.

The Artbook

Step inside the world of Coven Blitz with this A5 softcover artbook, featuring all the game’s illustrations, previously unpublished sketches, and lore from its magical universe. Discover the stories behind its witches and explore the creative journey that brought them to life, from early concepts to finished artwork. The artbook is included in some of the pledge levels and is available also as an add-on.

Solo Mode

In Coven Blitz’s solo mode, you’ll face Morgana Moonwyck, the master witch and mentor of the Coven. Put your potion-making skills to the test against the teacher herself!

Solo mode is a stretch goal and will only be available as an optional add-on if the campaign reaches €9,000 in funding.

About the Creator

Coven Blitz was created from scratch by Mercedes Rodrigo, video game concept artist and illustrator with 25 years of experience, including work on Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story. As its solo developer, she is behind the worldbuilding, characters, artwork, game design and graphic design. Losing her job last year during studio layoffs became the spark for this project, and the beginning of a world of her own. 

As a solo creator, Mercedes has found invaluable support in her creative community ♥ Playtesting and feedback from spaces such as La Escuela Minúscula de Ilustración and Espacio Oculto Madrid have helped her refine Coven Blitz. Around the table, a world imagined by one artist has become a shared adventure, enriched by the people who have explored it with her.

Mercedes has spent more than a year developing this handcrafted project, shaping its world, characters, artwork and gameplay.
