WHAT THE GAME IS ABOUT
Crusade and Revolution Definitive Edition is a historical simulation game, or wargame, set during the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). Its rules are based on Ted Raicer’s Paths of Glory, a renowned card-driven game set during World War I (1914–1918).

Each player leads one side (Republican or Nationalist) and commands it at the strategic and operational levels, managing all aspects of war: mobilization, military operations, diplomacy, the economy, propaganda…
The cards are the heart of the game and allow players to perform various actions. They also include dozens of events, characters, reinforcements, vehicles… that help immerse players in the historical context.
The map depicts peninsular Spain and the Balearic Islands, the theater where the conflict unfolded. Players deploy their military units on it, plan campaigns, build defenses, launch offensives, and counterattack.
Crusade and Revolution offers you the chance to recreate the events and change history. You’ll be able to experience the entire conflict: from the failed coup d’état that led to civil war, the shifting fronts of the early months, forced conscription, the building of two great armies, the major battles, and the final phase. Your decisions and those of your opponent will determine the course of events in a tense and thrilling confrontation.
WHAT DOES THE NEW EDITION OFFER?
After being out of print and impossible to find for several years, NAC Wargames is committed to re-releasing Crusade and Revolution. And it’s doing so on a grand scale. This isn’t just a reprint, but a definitive edition that starts from scratch in terms of graphics and aims to improve every aspect that can be enhanced.
Crusade and Revolution is a game with over 20 years of history, which underwent a lengthy process of design, development, and testing, and which, since its release, has withstood the scrutiny of hundreds of players in countless games. As for the rules, the essence remains the same. Errata detected in previous editions will be corrected, and a few minor official changes will be added. If the game has reached the 38th spot in the global wargames ranking (BoardGame Geek), we believe it’s because players value and enjoy the game with its current set of rules and balance. But does that mean this new edition doesn’t offer anything new? NO, not at all. There are major changes and improvements.
All the game’s artwork is new and will surprise you with its quality and originality. More than a hundred exclusive illustrations have been drawn for this edition, giving the game a magnificent, evocative aesthetic. The map and tokens are also new, featuring a beautiful, distinctive, clean, and functional design. Even the colors will be different in every way. We want your senses to be transported back to the era in which this conflict took place.
All components and reference sheets will be revised to ensure maximum usefulness and convenience for players. Some additional aids will be added, as well as optional rules and cards. The already extensive rulebook will be supplemented with new design notes, and there are even more surprises to discover that we’ll be revealing throughout the campaign.
