Goal
My goal? To share a fun DIY board game with you. As you can see, it's not about money, you're more than welcome to share this with your friends, no questions asked.
Story
One day I decided to do some crafting with my two 6-year-olds. The kids drew lines, I added numbers, then we added some colors, some rules, finally I came up with "actions" in the form of 70+ action cards. The kids named the game "Kupa-Action-Game".
At first it was one of many fun projects but all of a sudden we found ourselves playing this game every other day. Kids, grown-ups, two players, six players - it's not so much about winning, but to step on a red field to perform an action. That is what makes every one happy :)
I said - let it go "viral" ;P
So I figured - let's reach more people, to let them have the same fun, that we have. And here we are.
The single reward is for you to receiving the ready to print files with a simple yet clear instructions. The board itself - you can print it on a letter size paper (or bigger if you like), the cards (all printable and editable for you to add more actions) and I will also include a rather big paper dice template and some figurines, although you can pretty much use whatever figurines you like. We played it already with strawberries, coffee beans and marbles.
For you to get an idea about the actions on the cards - here are 10 example tasks:
- Meow like a cat until someone laughs,
- Say something in another language (hello, thank you),
- Walk across the room like a chicken, clucking loudly,
- Hug the person on your right,
- Say "banana" ten times really fast,
- Hum a tune and let others guess it,
- Pretend you are stuck in slow motion,
- Balance on one foot for ten seconds,
- Run up the stairs and down again,
- Act like you're freezing in the snow.
So if you have the time and motivation to make a similar game by yourself as a crafting project - go ahead and have fun while doing so! If you would rather concentrate on playing less than on making it, then I welcome you to get the ready-to-go set. All you need is access to a printer and scissors.
I might consider translating the action cards if I get feedback like "We'd like to have that in Spanish or German".
Also I might add some more actions, at the moment there are 71.
Let's see where it goes.
