Electric Version Details

This section is for backers who are interested in taking on the larger Electric DropVault build.

The good news is that anyone can build one. No previous coding or electronics experience is required. We’re including detailed instructions in the build guide, and the system uses common, easy-to-source components that can be purchased from Amazon or most major electronics retailers.

That said, we want you to have all the information before getting started — these are big prints.

The Electric DropVaults are intentionally larger than the mechanical versions and are designed primarily for display and storage. Strength, reliability, and ease of use were our main priorities when developing them.

In addition to basic nuts, screws, and fasteners, the standard electronic configuration requires:

If you’ve built even a basic electronics project before, the setup should feel very straightforward. The system uses widely available components and a simple configuration.

Every Electric DropVault includes a detailed assembly guide, along with files that are pre-split for both standard-size and large-format 3D printers.

One important thing to know is that the standard configuration raises and lowers the DropVault relatively slowly. This is intentional. We prioritized strength, durability, and reliability over speed.

The movement speed can be adjusted within the code if you want to experiment with your own setup, and more advanced builders are of course free to modify the project with different motors, electronics, or settings.

In its standard configuration, however, the Electric DropVault is designed primarily for display and long-term storage, rather than quickly accessing tools or supplies throughout the day.

DropVault was designed by our team of Engineers. Over the past few years, we've been working hard to make our projects as easy to build as possible. For this project we have eliminated almost all supports, used minimal fasteners, and included ready to print 3MF files. Everything has been printed and tested. DropVault will be one of our easiest projects to print and assemble!

FAQ 

File Delivery

The DropVault 3D-Printable .STL files will be delivered 30 days from the day the campaign ends. Kickstarter takes two weeks to collect the final backer report, and two weeks after we receive the backer report we will distribute all your files! We're usually able to get all the Stretch Goals included with the main file delivery, in the event that we unlock a bunch more or add anything extra, we may need an additional few days to get all the Stretch Goal files printed, tested and delivered.

Commercial License

All commercial licenses are lifetime licenses. There are no renewal fees. The commercial licenses are to sell 3D prints of the digital files. Commercial license holders are not permitted to distribute the digital files or use them for mass production injection molding or any other form of mass production. The commercial license is only for selling 3D prints of the digital files.

All commercial license holders will receive an individual registered commercial license that they must display wherever they sell their DropVaults (this is typically done in the product listing).

All commercial license holders will also be provided with a media folder that contains all the professional photos, videos, renders, and illustrations! Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for our commercial backers.

Disclaimers

• This is a digital file campaign - there are no physical products being sold.
• All digital files will be delivered around 30 days after the campaign.
• Commercial license backers - you cannot use these files for injection molding or any other type of mass production except 3D printing. 3D print farms are absolutely allowed and encouraged!
• You have the entire duration of the campaign to cancel your pledge. There are no refunds once the campaign is over. This is strictly enforced as our team spends the entire duration of the campaign sculpting away at the stretch goals that are unlocked as a result of your pledge!
• It is the backer's responsibility to know how to use a 3D printer to print the files. We have made the process very beginner friendly.
• In addition to 3D-printed pieces, there are other hardware requirements such as fasteners which we do not provide as part of the campaign. We will provide a gear list with different sources for the ancillary products, including options you can buy directly from our website.
