Ecosystem Series - 2nd Edition

The Ecosystem series began with a simple idea: create beautiful, approachable card games where every card represents part of a living habitat and every placement matters.

Over the years, players have explored these environments by building interconnected ecosystems filled with plants, animals, and the relationships that help them thrive. With this new edition, we wanted to return to that original experience and ask: What would Ecosystem look and play like if we created it today?

The original games introduced players to a relaxing but strategic style of card drafting and tableau building, where scoring comes from understanding how different species interact. We loved the accessibility of those games, but after years of seeing them played, teaching them to new players, and expanding the Ecosystem family, we saw an opportunity to make the experience even better.

Not by replacing what players loved, but by building on it.

A major source of inspiration came from the beautifully illustrated Polish editions of Ecosystem.

Their artwork showed us how much more immersive these habitats could feel when the environment itself became part of the experience. That inspired us to revisit the entire visual direction of the series and create artwork that feels richer, more vibrant, and more connected from card to card.

For this new edition, every ecosystem has been given a fresh visual identity:

The artwork wasn't the only thing we wanted to improve on. As we returned to the original games, we looked at where experienced players wanted more tension, more meaningful choices, and more opportunities to plan ahead. The updated rules retain the approachable core of Ecosystem while refining the way cards interact and score, creating a more challenging strategic puzzle.

You'll still draft cards, build your habitat, and create relationships between species, but now there are more reasons to think carefully about what you place, where you place it, and what you may be giving up in the process.

The result is an Ecosystem experience that remains easy to learn, but gives returning players more to discover and more to master.

We didn't want to simply reprint these games. We wanted to give the Ecosystem series the edition we feel it deserves today, with artwork that makes you want to explore every card and refined gameplay that keeps you thinking until the final placement.
