Era of Atlantis is a unique worker placement and area-control board game by Seajay Games set in a distant mythical-scifi past.
The special twist about this game is that you control two nations at the same time and share each one with another player! The lesser valued one at game end determines your score.
You are playing a secret society seeking to expand the two powerful nations you control during the mythical antediluvian age, 12000 years ago. This includes legendary civilizations such as Atlantis, Lemuria and Hyperborea.
Cooperate and compete with your rivals to become the most successful one before the Era of Atlantis ends either in glory or in cataclysm!

What's in the Box?

Each box contains both the English and German versions of the game!
Some components will be in duplicate (English & German) while others will have the other language on their back side.
You can see more images of the game components on our gallery on Pinterest.
How to Play

This is an area-control and worker placement game with a unique feature: overlapping partnerships.
This means you will control two nations, sharing control of each nation with another player.

The orange player controls both Atlantis and Aztlán, sharing Atlantis with the purple player and Aztlán with the grey player.
Players only score for the lower-valued one of their two nations at game end. So your partners will have the same interest in the success of your shared nations.
There are ways to score some additional points for yourself only, too.
Switching control of a nation is also possible, but difficult.
The game is played over a variable number of rounds, with each player taking one turn per round by using an archon (worker) to activate an action space. You have both personal action spaces and those of a nation which you share with your partners.

The grey archon is placed on the Recruit action of a major nation it controls (Aztlán).
There are two main ways to gain new areas for your nation: militarily or politically. This means either using troops to outright conquer new lands, or using your secret agents to stage political coups in your favor.

Players can use troops of a major nation they control to conquer a territory. Here, Hyperborea (blue) is invading an area controlled by Aztlán (green).

Players can also use their agents (from their secret society) to capture a territory. Here, the Sisters of Starlight society (pink) have sent three agents to stage a coup in an area controlled by Aztlán (green).
Combat is deterministic with secret bids. There is almost no randomness in the game.
You can also gain new abilities by constructing buildings or acquiring powerful special actions.
A nation will grow more successfully the better its two controlling players can cooperate.

Features
- Bluffing (secret bidding during combat allows bluffing)
- Constant interaction (you are affected by nearly every turn, common goals encourage negotiation and deal-making)
- New challenges and experiences every time (variable setup, every game uses a different combination of the powerful special actions)
- Strategic planning (nearly zero game randomness means you can plan ahead)
- Tension until game end (secret objectives and variable game length make it unclear who is winning)

Mini-Expansion

This mini-expansion to the game is a Gamefound exclusive, i.e. only available in this campaign.
To get this mini-expansion, you go to the Add-On section and add it separately to your pledge.
Campaign Game

You can combine Era of Atlantis with Galactic Era (the first game published by Seajay Games) for an epic campaign game. The rules for this are included in Era of Atlantis rulebook.
You first play Era of Atlantis and then Galactic Era. The result of the Era of Atlantis game will significantly influence the start and objectives for the Galactic Era game.
2-Player Variant
The game will also include a variant for two players in the rulebook. Since there is no negotiation between players in this case, it is not included as part of the regular player count. You can use this variant to practice the rules of the game. It is also an interesting tactical and strategic game, since there is no luck involved.
