Fabulorium: Fantasy Worlds & Battle Maps in Minutes

🌍 Build fantasy worlds in minutes
Fabulorium is a procedural 3D worldbuilding and rendering tool for Game Masters, mapmakers and fantasy creators.
Create atmospheric low-poly villages, forests, roads, rivers, ruins and camps. Keep every element editable, shape the scene around your story, then export the same world as a cinematic image, an animated video or a top-down battlemap.
One editable world. Many ways to tell your story.
This is already a working application
Fabulorium is not a pre-rendered concept. A packaged Windows build already runs through Steam, its Steam achievements are integrated, and every image and video on this page was created with the application as it exists today.
The foundation is working. This Kickstarter will fund the focused development, wider hardware testing and onboarding work needed to turn that foundation into a polished Steam Early Access release.
🎨 Compose and render scenes
Place, transform, group and duplicate objects in a dedicated scene editor. Draw roads, stairs, fences, forests, fields, terraces, lakes, rivers and camps directly into the world.
Build reusable assets, save portable scenes in the .fabulorium format and keep iterating until the composition tells the story you need.
Two render modes, one creative workflow
Move from day to night and control lighting, fog and atmosphere. Use Live Mode for responsive real-time editing on modest hardware, then switch to Monte Carlo when you want the highest-quality final render.
You can choose the mode that fits your computer and the stage of your work.
🗺️ Export battle maps
Switch to the orthographic top-down camera and export a tactical map from the same scene. Create day or night variants, with a grid or without one, for virtual tabletops or physical play.
Fabulorium already supports print scaling and real physical-resolution metadata, including A3 at 300 DPI.
✅ What works today
• Editable procedural fantasy scenes on Windows
• Architecture, vegetation, terrain, roads, water, lights and props
• Day and night lighting, fog and atmospheric controls
• Live and Monte Carlo rendering modes
• Camera animation with keyframes
• Image and video export
• Orthographic battlemap export with grid and print scaling
• Steam integration and achievements
🚀 What this Kickstarter will make possible
The campaign will support a clear, achievable next stage:
• Polish the user experience and onboarding for new creators
• Test and optimize Fabulorium across a wider range of Windows PCs and GPUs
• Expand the library of useful fantasy assets and scene-building tools
• Improve battlemap, image and animation workflows
• Prepare the public demo for Steam Next Fest
• Reach a stable, well-tested Steam Early Access release
The goal is not to promise every possible feature. It is to deliver a strong Early Access foundation that can grow with its community.
Why Kickstarter?
Fabulorium has reached the point where real Game Masters and mapmakers can use it, test it and help shape what comes next.
Kickstarter lets us bring that first community together before Early Access, fund a finite body of development and content work, and learn which assets and workflows matter most at the table.
This is a fully digital project: there is no manufacturing or physical shipping.
🏆 Stretch goals
€2,000 — Funded: the base campaign goal
€3,500 — Additional language
€6,000 — Port and ships
€11,000 — Expanded object library
€16,000 — Underworlds: subterranean environments and glowing mushrooms
👤 About Layerforged
I created Fabulorium as the founder of Layerforged, an independent studio based in Madrid, Spain.
I have nearly 25 years of professional experience in 3D modelling and visual effects. Before Fabulorium, I completed and delivered three all-digital Kickstarter campaigns for tabletop miniatures on time, alongside an online store and a Patreon with regular monthly releases.
I bring those worlds together: decades of 3D experience, a love of tabletop storytelling and the desire to give other creators a fast, flexible way to build their own fantasy settings.
This started as a passion project at home. It still is — just with a much bigger world to build.
📅 Development roadmap
• After the campaign: backer onboarding, focused testing and community feedback
• December 2026–January 2027: usability polish, performance work, content production and demo QA
• January 2027: submit the public demo for Steam review
• 22 February–1 March 2027: participate in Steam Next Fest
• April 2027: target Steam Early Access release, subject to final QA and Valve review
Help us build the next realm
Fabulorium already makes worlds. With your support, we can make the tool faster to learn, stronger across more hardware and ready for a much larger community of storytellers.
Create the realm. Tell the story. Bring it to the table.
