Preorder vs. Crowdfunding
How does this preorder differ from a crowdfunding project?
This preorder is for products that are already in production and being finalized. Our original plan was to release them into distribution with no crowdfunding or preorder, however given world events - and namely the tariffs on our goods for the USA - it has become important for us to get as many direct sales as we can (just being honest!). We will only bring in LIMITED quantities into the USA while the very high tariffs are in effect (mostly these preorders and stock for conventions).
There are NO stretch goals or additional surprises like you might find in a crowdfunding campaign - what you see is what you get. There is also no funding goal or hard deadline but we will likely close the preorder after 2-3 weeks and completely at our discretion. When we identify a closing date/time we will communicate that in advance. UPDATE: This Preorder will close on May 22nd at Midnight CDT!
Preorder with CONFIDENCE...
While the tariffs are disruptive to our business, we are in a good position to weather the uncertainty, particularly if this preorder is successful...
- We are in a solid financial state and have already paid for and/or reserved cash required to finalize the production of the products offered in this preorder.
- We have ZERO outstanding crowdfunding or other preorder projects.
- Production of all items in this preorder is already in progress and wrapping up in mere weeks.
- We recently ran a small preorder for 2,000 copies of Bad Times at Buddyland for USA customers and it is already delivering now as promised.
What are the benefits of this preorder (vs. crowdfunding)?
- Products are being produced already, so you will get the products in 3 or 4 months, instead of 1+ years!
- One stop shopping! No need to come back to pay shipping or worry (as much) about address changes (Just one exception... USA preorders WILL need to come back and pay the tariff surcharge once that is applied - see below).
- Guarantee your stock (especially in the USA). Bringing in products that have not yet been sold is tough to do at the moment due to the tariffs, but by capturing direct sales we will be able to do so. Retail availability while the tariffs are high will likely be limited at best.
How do the tariffs impact my price?
The discount pricing in this preorder reflects the prices we had planned for the products BEFORE the tariffs went into effect. In addition, we are offering additional savings for purchasing the bundles of products. For international backers, you are NOT paying for tariffs that do not exist in your country (but you are still responsible for applicable VAT or duties of your country as usual). For USA backers, you will be charged a separate tariff surcharge which will help cover the tariffs, but we are also covering some of the tariff amount out of our own profit as well. We estimate the surcharge (i.e. the unsubsidized portion of the tariffs that will be charged to you) to be roughly 10% of the total price of the products. The surcharge will be applied at a later date prior to shipping.
Are quantities limited?
Yes and no. We are not limiting total quantities for this preorder initially (although the Premium Promo girls are limited to one of each per preorder). However the production is already in progress and initial quantities settled. So in the event the demand for this preorder looks like it will exceed our current print run, we will end the preorder to make sure we have enough to complete fulfillment for everyone that gets their preorder in. First come first served! We will post an update to communicate if this ends up being the case and try to give as much of a heads up as possible.
Are these products going to retail?
The Premium Promo Final Girls are not planned to go to retail. They are not exclusive however and we reserve the right to sell them on our website and at conventions. We also reserve the right to change our mind and put them into retail at a later time if we choose. The other items will all be sold at retail (though WHEN that occurs could vary dramatically based on the success of this preorder and other factors like the tariffs).
Are preorders guaranteed to arrive first?
No. We are releasing Shriek and the Premium Promo Girls at Gen Con and that is when they will first be available in the USA. Additionally, we will sell stock to international distribution partners for pickup at the factory. As such for international (non-USA) locales we are not making any guarantees that you will get your preorder before it becomes available elsewhere. HOWEVER we ARE guaranteeing the orders from this preorder are allocated FIRST - this is VERY important to understand if you are thinking of, aka risking, waiting for retail because it could end up being a lot longer wait than you think depending on the success of this preorder. Basically, that means that we will only sell into distribution the additional stock that is not sold during this preorder campaign.
No Rest of World shipping
We apologize to our customers outside of the standard zones of USA, Canada, EU, UK, Australia/NZ, China/HK, and Rest of Asia but we are not able to accept preorders with shipping addresses in "Rest of World" countries. We are sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this causes.
