Who designed the game?
Jo Smedley
The game was created by Jo Smedley, who has been an avid board game player her whole life, learning Kensington (remember that one) when she was a child, Cards, Dominoes (she played cross roads with her grandparents, which is similar to Mexican Train but equally quite different), and other family favourites like Othello, Scrabble, The Great Game of Britain, Monopoly etc and going onto enjoying all sorts of other more modern games like Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, and more recently Clank! She's backed lots of Kickstarter games herself, but says her favourite Kickstarter one so far has been "Murder at Blood Mansion".
Burglar was her first foray into designing board games, rather than role playing games (her usual bag) and although Framed! was designed the same year, she decided to hold off publishing it until she could find a graphic designer that shared the same vision as she did.
Giovanni Spadaro
Giovanni Spadaro is a graphic designer, illustrator, and game designer who has worked in comic books, illustrated books, and the board game industry for many years. He graduated from the Palermo School of Comics and is now a collaborator and teacher at the school.
He has worked as an illustrator, colourist, and letterer for major publishing houses such as Disney, Mattel, and Lion. As a letterer, Giovanni worked on Disney comics for the American market, and he collaborated with RW Lion on the Italian-language adaptations of numerous issues, primarily DC Comics and Vertigo titles, including “Teen Titans Go”, “The Flintstones”, “Batman”, “Justice League”, and “He-Man”.
Since 2018, he has collaborated with the American publishing house Little Simon (the children’s division of Simon & Schuster). Since 2018, he has also established himself as a professional board game designer, creating games such as “Assalto al Castello” (published by Giochi Uniti), “Beccato” (Red Glove Edizioni), “Sweet Dreams” (Red Glove Edizioni), “Rubaparola” (Centro Studi Erickson), and “6 Fuori” (Red Glove Edizioni). His first detective game in the Mini Crime series will be released this year by GateOnGames.
Some of his board games have been adapted and released in other languages and countries. He also participated as a game author on the “Toy Inventor” format for Real Time. Giovanni Spadaro lives and works in Palermo.
How the Game Plays
On your turn:
1. Roll the die and move along any route.
2. If you reach a location, you may stop to search it. You can look at all cards there. During that turn you can take any number of cards from that location and leave any number of cards from your hand behind, providing you end your turn with a maximum of 6 cards in hand.
Winning:
Once you have collected 3 matching weapon cards (or 2 and a wildcard) and 3 matching suspect cards (or 2 and a wild card) you can race to the Godfather with your accusation. The winner successfully frames an opponent.
Police Officer Spaces
Land on a Police Officer space, draw a Police Officer card, and follow the instructions immediately.
Some officers are in the pay of the mob. Others are not and could damage your plans. Either way, the officer cards can change the state of the game - fast.
Alibi card
If someone has an alibi card in their hand they cannot be named as the killer. However you cannot hold an alibi card in your hand and win. So at some point you have to ditch your protection and go it alone.
The Board
The board contains a crime scene and multiple locations where you can gather and discard evidence, which means you’re constantly watching what someone else is doing.
Rewards
We’re keeping rewards simple and backer-friendly.

All of these games were successful Kickstarter projects in their own right and have gone on to have further print runs.
Puzzle games
We have all four of our latest "Escape game in a box" puzzles available as add ons, at the Kickstarter rate of £10 per title. When ordered with Framed, shipping is free.
Burglar
Burglar is a game that's different every time you play. The aim of the game is to steal three items from the house before the other burglars. As you play the furniture moves, allowing other players to trap you in corners.
We still have a small number of copies left in stock and now is a great time to get a double box bundle.
SHIPPING COSTS
As with all our projects we try to keep shipping transparent and avoid surprise charges later.
We appreciate the changes in the USA with tariffs have meant that unless we ship by Royal Mail - people are finding import charges in the USA astronomical. So for this Kickstarter - All USA shipments will be handled by Royal Mail - which seems to bring no extra charges.
When ordering from countries OUTSIDE the UK - do bear in mind our prices DO NOT include customs fees. These are calculated at the border.
We are, however, using Royal Mail shipping for all orders this time as unlike couriers like UPS they do not also add on a ridiculous flat rate "handling fee".
That said - we do know that other countries local mail offices may still charge high rates for import (Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Norway in particular seem to get hit with high charges. So do bear that in mind.
As with all our previous Kickstarter projects we are not running a "post campaign" pledge manager. This means what you pay on Kickstarter is ALL you pay.
We won't be reaching out again for Tax, or Shipping costs. However - IMPORT charges are not covered. These will be raised by your own country border control and will need paying on import.
Approximate shipping charges are calculated as follows:
Digital rewards - ZERO shipping fees. (NO surprise there)
Regular or Twin Box - £4 to UK
£17 to USA and Canada
£12 to EU
£27 to ROW
Add ons:
Puzzle boxes - No additional charges.
Shadows in the Gallery - £1 to UK
- £5 to USA and Canada
- £3 to EU
- £7 to ROW
