Grand Spin is a fast-paced 1-on-1 dueling card game where players build 20-card decks from over 120 unique champions.
With a unique resource system, fast paced duels, card synergies and battles decided by the spin of a top. It is easy to learn but difficult to master.
Grand Spin has the heart of a trading card game and supports three different formats that TCG players may recognize.
Quick is for instant dueling where you build a 20-card deck from a small random pool. Constructed lets you perfect high-powered combos with a custom 20-card deck and sideboard. Or, test your strategy in Draft mode (2-4 players), where you build your deck on the fly by picking cards from shared packs.
Beasts are a force of nature, destroying cards before battle with their primal frenzy. Knights are frontline attackers who lock down the enemy and hit hardest when charging for a critical strike. Masters of sacrifice and corruption, Cultists drain their allies’ life to awaken devastating champions from the Crypt. Frogs are elusive tacticians, disrupt enemy plans by bouncing cards and dealing damage from outside the battlefield.
When battle begins, there are no dice to roll for initiative. Instead, players spin their cards in the fate spinners. Each card carries unique odds, and only the winner of the spin gets to strike. Even the most skilled warriors can’t escape fate.
Tuned and tested.
What started as a one-card duel, through endless playtests with friends, countless tweaks, and the creation of more than 120 characters over four years, has grown into a truly unique card battler with my own spin. The game is constantly being playtested and I am only making small changes here and there, the art is finished with over 120 custom character illustrations from a talented local artist, and the rulebook is complete. All that’s left is to manufacture the first edition… and that’s where you come in!
Big risks, big rewards. (Sometimes.)
In Grand Spin, players have to calculate risk when sending a champion to battle. Play the champion with the massive attack, but low initiative and risk losing the battle, or play the card with higher initiative possibly leaving your more powerful card on the bench, vulnerable to your opponents tricks.
Both players build a 20-card deck and summon their champions onto the bench. At the start of each round, both players choose a champion for battle, activate abilities and available type bonuses, then spin to determine initiative and resolve combat, creating shifting board states and exciting high-impact turns round after round. Reduce your opponent’s life total from 30 to 0 to win the game.
Summoning Phase
- Undetain cards that were detained last round.
- Activate any abilities that trigger during this phase.
- Summon cards until all 3 bench slots have a card.
Selection Phase
- Activate any abilities that trigger during this phase.
- Attacking Player moves one of their cards to the battle area and activates any Type Bonuses and Abilities of that card.
*Note: Abilities and type bonuses can be used in any order.
Battle Phase
- Activate any abilities that trigger during this phase.
- Players Spin cards until one has been destroyed and placed into the crypt.
How to Battle
- Place Spinner on the center of your card, you can line this up using the Grand Spin logo on the back of the card.
- Each player spins their card using the spinner.
- The side of your card that is facing the battle front is used to determine the initiative number when determining what card gets to attack.
- The card with the highest initiative number facing the battle front will deal damage equal to its Attack to the other card.
- In the case of an initiative tie both players spin their cards again.
- These steps are repeated until one card is destroyed.
Damage Phase
- The card that won the Battle deals damage to the opponent's life total equal to its attack (ATK at the time the losing card was destroyed) and then is placed into the crypt.
- Activate any abilities that trigger during this phase.
- The winning card’s owner becomes the Attacking Player next round.
End Game
- Game ends when a players life total is reduced to 0.

The creator - Chase Bergman
I remember as a kid looking through packs of Magic Cards admiring the art, before I even knew how to play. As I became older I was curious how to play this game with amazing art, and my family had just gotten dial up internet. So I went online and printed the rules and taught my neighborhood friends how to play and almost correctly at that. I quickly fell in love with the self expression that deck building allows and became interested in what makes a game great. I started reading on the subject and watching countless videos talking about game design. I wanted to put this knowledge to the test, Grand Spin is the result. I hope you enjoy it. -Chase
The illustrator - Colin Gaddis
Born and raised in the Detroit Metropolitan, I moved to Grand Rapids to grow my art career as an illustrator and painter under the moniker @gadatonic. My style, influenced by everything from tattoos, fantasy, sci-fi and nature itself, caught the attention of Chase during an art exhibition. Chase and I got to talking about cards and now here we are. -Colin
