WELCOME TO HERD OF BEASTS 27

HERD OF BEASTS returns with a new collection of prehistoric creatures and a new complete printable ecosystem scene inspired by Jurassic Patagonia.

HOB27 maintains the classic Herd of Beasts format that longtime backers already know: 5 brand-new prehistoric species, with 6 dynamic poses for each one, creating a complete Core Collection of 30 new printable animal models.

But HOB27 also continues the Ecosystem Diorama concept introduced in HOB26.

Alongside the traditional Core Collection, HOB27 presents the Cañadón Asfalto Diorama — a complete printable scene inspired by the Middle Jurassic landscapes of Patagonia, Argentina.

The diorama combines scene-specific animal poses, terrain, vegetation and environmental elements to create a dramatic prehistoric display centered on Patagosaurus, Piatnitzkysaurus and Allkaruen.

The Cañadón Asfalto Diorama is an expansion of the Herd of Beasts concept, not a replacement for it. Backers can still collect the complete traditional HOB set, while those looking for a larger display piece can explore an entire Jurassic ecosystem.

THE HOB27 CORE COLLECTION

The Core Collection includes 5 completely new prehistoric species:

  • Deinocheirus mirificus
  • Bajadasaurus pronuspinax
  • Kronosaurus queenslandicus
  • Shantungosaurus giganteus
  • Kosmoceratops richards

Each species is represented in 6 different dynamic poses, featuring walking, running, swimming, resting, feeding, displaying and other natural behaviors, depending on the species.

That means:

5 new species
6 poses per species
30 brand-new printable models

Miniatures are modeled at 32 mm scale, based on the height of a human's eyes, and are fully compatible with all previous Herd of Beasts campaigns.

Deinocheirus mirificus was a giant ornithomimosaur dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous Nemegt Formation of Mongolia. It was distinguished by its enormous arms, broad toothless bill and tall neural spines forming a prominent hump along its back. Fossil evidence suggests an omnivorous diet that included plants and fish.
Bajadasaurus pronuspinax was a dicraeosaurid sauropod dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous Bajada Colorada Formation of Patagonia, Argentina. This herbivore was distinguished by its exceptionally long, paired neural spines projecting forward from its neck vertebrae. Described in 2019, it was proposed to have used these striking structures as a passive defense against predators.
Kronosaurus queenslandicus was a large pliosaur, a marine reptile from the Early Cretaceous of Queensland, Australia. It had a massive skull, powerful jaws, a short neck and four strong flippers. Inhabiting the ancient Eromanga Sea, it was a formidable predator that fed on fish and other marine animals.
Shantungosaurus giganteus was a giant herbivorous hadrosaur dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Shandong Province, China. One of the largest known duck-billed dinosaurs, it had a long, crestless skull, a massive body and a powerful tail. Its fossils have been recovered from the Wangshi Group.
Kosmoceratops richardsoni was a herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous Kaiparowits Formation of Utah, USA, approximately 76 million years ago. Its elaborate skull featured 15 horns and horn-like ornaments, including sideways-curving brow horns and a richly decorated frill. These striking structures may have played a role in display and attracting mates.

The first stretch goal has been unlocked.

Infernodrakon hastacollis was an azhdarchid pterosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous, approximately 68–66 million years ago, in what is now Montana, USA. Described in 2025 from the Hell Creek Formation, it is known from an exceptionally elongated cervical vertebra measuring about 35 cm. Its wingspan is estimated at approximately 4 meters. With its long, slender neck, toothless beak, and powerful wings, Infernodrakon likely hunted small terrestrial animals, much like other azhdarchid pterosaurs.

THE CAÑADÓN ASFALTO DIORAMA

Alongside the traditional HOB27 Core Collection, this campaign presents a complete printable diorama inspired by the Jurassic landscapes of the Cañadón Asfalto Formation in Patagonia, Argentina.

The scene captures a dramatic encounter: an adult Patagosaurus protects its young as two Piatnitzkysaurus approach. A sweeping tail and an evading predator bring movement to the composition, while a nearby Allkaruen spreads its wings on a broken tree trunk.

Conifers, horsetails, fallen wood and rocky terrain surround the animals, creating a prehistoric setting in which each model contributes to the scene.

The diorama combines five scene-specific animal models with vegetation, environmental elements and a detailed printable base.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

FIVE SCENE-SPECIFIC ANIMAL MODELS

• Adult Patagosaurus
• Juvenile Patagosaurus
• Piatnitzkysaurus A
• Piatnitzkysaurus B
• Allkaruen

These five models are additional to the 30 animal models in the HOB27 Core Collection.

SCENIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

• A detailed scenic base
• Textured terrain and rocks
• Fallen tree trunk
• Araucaria-like conifers
• Equisetum-like horsetails
• Additional Jurassic-inspired foliage and plant elements

The vegetation is inspired by Jurassic Patagonian plant life and represents an environmental reconstruction informed by fossil evidence, rather than an exact restoration of complete fossil species.

All models feature detailed textures, allowing painters to bring out the character of the animals and their environment.

STRETCH GOALS

Additional printable models will be unlocked as the campaign reaches new funding milestones.

Each unlocked stretch goal adds 5 new poses of the featured species.

All unlocked stretch goals are included with the HOB27 Core Collection and all HOB27 Complete tiers.

Stretch goals are not included with rewards containing only the Cañadón Asfalto Diorama.

FILES & PRE-SUPPORTED MODELS

All printable animal models in this campaign will be delivered pre-supported, so you can start printing your miniatures immediately.

You will receive:

  • Clean STL files
  • Pre-supported STL files
  • Chitubox files for support editing or hollowing customization

Large scenic or multipart elements may also be supplied in different cut configurations when necessary for easier printing.

This gives you full flexibility to print the models exactly the way you prefer.

DESIGNED FOR 3D PRINTING

HOB27 models are designed with both visual quality and printability in mind.

Animal models will be prepared at 32 mm scale, with clean and pre-supported versions optimized primarily for resin printing.

The Cañadón Asfalto Diorama base and larger scenic elements are also designed with FDM printing in mind, offering a practical alternative for printing the largest parts of the scene while saving resin.

Large animals and scenic elements may include multipart versions to make printing easier on commonly used resin and FDM printers.

The Cañadón Asfalto Diorama will be divided into printable sections with carefully designed joints and assembly points.

Clean and supported versions will be checked before final delivery.

DELIVERY & DOWNLOADS

Rewards are scheduled for delivery in early November 2026.

All files will be delivered digitally through Gumroad. You will receive download links and redemption codes through Kickstarter messages, giving you access to the products included in your pledge and any selected add-ons.

The HOB27 Core Collection and the Cañadón Asfalto Diorama will be delivered as separate products. Backers of HOB27 Complete will receive access to both, along with all unlocked stretch goals.

All rewards are digital files for 3D printing. No physical miniatures will be shipped.

PREVIOUS HOB COLLECTIONS

All previous Herd of Beasts campaigns, from HOB1 to HOB26, will be available as optional add-ons during this campaign.

Together, these collections include more than 1,000 printable prehistoric models.

Previous campaigns are delivered with:

Clean STL files

Pre-supported STL files

Chitubox files

Backers who only want access to previous HOB campaigns can also select the PAST HOB ADD-ONS – HOB27 NOT INCLUDED pledge tier.

Please remember that this pledge does not include the HOB27 Core Collection or the Cañadón Asfalto Diorama.
