How To Play

Herding Cats is a fairly simple game in concept, just like actually herding cats. Each player gets a ‘crazy cats lady’ to control (which we believe in our hearts to be a gender nuetral term).

On your turn you’ll have a goals showing where to herd cats, and a timer counting down showing how much time you have left. The player to your left controls the video timer, which can be downloaded or viewed online, and the player to your right controls the deck and flips over new goals as you complete old ones.

Fairly simple right? Well, as with herding cats, the catastrophe comes from all the ways you can fail. There are hazards on the board, from sprinklers a scary sidewalks to over eager doggos that will run away or nip at heels.

After your turn ends you reset the board, which gives you a chance for some slight tactical planning… or chaos. 

Cats on the scary sidewalk get ZOOMIES, and run to the center sending other pieces scattering. While dogs get flipped like a coin and placed in an empty spot of your choice, perhaps next to a goal of a future player. 

Play continues until four rounds have passed and then the person with the most goals wins! Unless the cats cause enough chaos that everyone loses…

Timeline

What’s left to do?

Designwise, nothing! We’ve tested, played, and purrrfected the game. It’s done! The only thing left is to finalize the stretch goals and art before we go to print!

We estimate about one month from now we will start printing. Another 1-2 months after that printing will be done, and another 1-2 two after that everything will be shipped to our warehouse. Once everything arrives we will begin shipping. However, there will be a possible interruption…

October 2027 the lead designer and person running everything (me) will be getting married. Depending on how long things take we will be taking a few weeks off to prepare for, and then have, the wedding. If the games arrive during that time, shipping will be on hold until afterward.
