🚚Shipping & Fulfillment
Please note that these costs pertain to an individual item, and the prices decrease with extra ordered copies. For example, buying 2 USA standard edition copies would cost around $20-22 total instead of $29-31. Shipping is currently available to the USA, Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Due to import regulations, we are unable to ship to Ukraine and Russia at this time. Shipping costs will be calculated and charged after the campaign through the Kickstarter pledge manager, closer to the fulfillment date, as rates vary by location and over time. Please note that pledge and shipping prices do not include applicable taxes, VAT, or U.S. costumer tariff-related costs. These will be charged after the campaign once your order is prepared for shipment from our distribution hubs in the USA, UK, Canada, or Australia. Hexes of Sygon is currently only available in English and German. The language is selected in the pledge manager after the campaign is complete.
🚨Why Hexes of Sygon?
The name Hexes of Sygon comes from the dual meaning of the word “hex”, both magic and hexagons. It captures the core experience: casting spells across a magical world built on interconnected hexagons.
Combine "Hexes" and "Sygon" and you essentially get "hexagons". At the same time, it echoes Saigon, a name once belonging to a real-world city, making “Sygon” the perfect name for a fantasy civilization builder game name.
"Y" did we remove “AI” from Saigon? Hexes of Sygon does NOT use AI-generated art, everything is digitally drawn and painted by our artist and graphic designer, Tony Harrop. Support a company that pays direct royalties to the team that helped build it.
👥Meet the Team
Alec Cacheris - Founder of Hexes of Sygon LLC
I’ve always loved games, whether on a table, a screen, or out in a field. I’m especially drawn to games that are dynamic yet balanced, interactive, and keep every player engaged until the very end. That passion led me to create a game of my own built around those ideals.
Growing up, some of my favorite tabletop games were Settlers of Catan, Dungeons & Dragons, and Chess, along with Sid Meier's Civilization. While I love each of these, none fully captured my ideal experience. Instead, they inspired me to create something new, combining their strengths into a more dynamic, interactive, and strategic system.
My background stems from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. While the gameplay is intuitive, the balance behind Hexes of Sygon is anything but simple. Countless iterations, simulations, detailed statistics, game record keeping, and in-depth analysis refined a system where every game is truly unique, close until the very end, and the winner always deserved the victory. Stay tuned for the release of our game records, along with a full statistical analysis of our well-balanced game!
Tony Harrop - Artist & Graphic Designer
As a fan of both fantasy and interactive, competitive games (Magic, the Gathering), working on this project has been a dream come true. I spent 10 years learning and then working as a graphic designer, with my love for art and illustration taking a back seat.
Then one day, what started as a request to update the Hexes of Sygon logo turned into multiple years of work revamping the game's entire aesthetic. For the first time in years I picked up the pen and started drawing, creating elements of the game's aesthetic, and for the first time ever, I learned how to digitally paint on a tablet.
While I still consider myself green in the realm of illustration and digital art, the result is something I am very proud of. My hope is that the game's colorful, trippy, retro aesthetic is one that stands out from the crowd and pops off the shelf in this age of endless board games, so that as many people as possible notice and have a chance to play this truly amazing game.
John Harrop - Rulebook Creation
I started playing board games when I was in elementary school. My friends and I started with Risk, then moved to Axis & Allies, then to Global War 1936. Eventually, we started designing free-for-all and alternate history military strategy games. This was my introduction to game design.
I always enjoyed writing the rules and designing player aids to make our rulesets manageable. I've made desktop apps to track technology development, written contracts for treaties and ceasefires, and built every kind of resource tracker for our free-for-all version of Global War 1936.
My background is in foreign language, linguistics, and graphic design. Hexes of Sygon is the perfect game for those who enjoy the simple, intuitive visuals with sweaty, strategic gameplay. We have worked very hard to make our game accessible for beginners and captivating for those interested in games more complex than Settlers of Catan or Risk. It is guaranteed to become a beloved part of your game collection.
Influential Playtesters
Hexes of Sygon playtesting began in December 2022. Since then, we’ve been fortunate to have many people play and enjoy the game, helping improve the experience with every playtest. While we are grateful to everyone who contributed to the development of Hexes of Sygon, we would like to recognize a select few who went above and beyond by playing dozens of games and providing invaluable feedback through the many iterations of the rules. Without their support, this project would not be where it's at today. A standing ovation to Brandon, Maria, Alyssa, and Devin!
