What is History Rewritten: JFK?

November 15, 1963. Dallas.

A coded message has surfaced that describes routes, locations, and timelines that match the President's motorcade through Dallas on November 22.

The FBI dismissed it. The CIA denied it. But someone believes the message is real.

So a covert unit is activated.

You are Unit 63.

The only problem is the enemy has infiltrated your ranks, and you don’t know who at the table is with you and who is against you.

One error can preserve the tragedy. One correct move can change the nation’s fate.

History Rewritten: JFK is a hidden identity social deduction game for 2–11 players. Agents have seven days to uncover the Conspirators, track their hidden movement across Dallas, and stop the plot before three secret objectives are completed.

  • Hidden Movement Across Dallas - Track two secret pawns moving across a 4×4 grid of real Dallas locations.
  • Three Secret Objectives - Conspirators are secretly working toward objectives while Agents try to uncover and disrupt their plan.
  • Investigate, Don’t Just Guess - Scan locations, follow movement, analyze actions, and build a case against the players you suspect.
  • The Moderator Is In On It - The person running the game isn’t neutral. They’re working with the Conspirators to help them win.
  • Trust No One — Every vote, Scan, accusation, and decision could reveal the truth or lead the investigation in the wrong direction.

🔎 Key Features

1. True Social Deduction

Stop guessing and start investigating. History Rewritten: JFK transforms social deduction into an evidence-driven investigation where every Scan uncovers clues, every Action changes the case, and every player leaves a trail. The investigation takes place across 16 real Dallas locations arranged in a 4×4 grid, but the map is reshuffled every game for maximum replayability. This creates a new spatial puzzle every time you play. You aren't just asking, “Who is the Conspirator?” You're asking, “Where could they possibly be?” Because true social deduction isn't about guessing, it’s about proving who can be trusted.

2. No One Leaves the Table

In most hidden role games, getting caught means sitting out while everyone else finishes without you. In History Rewritten: JFK, exposure only changes your objective. A revealed Conspirator keeps playing, keeps influencing the Night Phase, and keeps the table guessing what happens next. They might know who you are, but they still have to stop you.

3. The Moderator is NOT on your side

Most games treat the moderator as a facilitator. Here, the moderator is part of the problem. In History Rewritten: JFK, the Moderator is always part of the conspiracy, playing to win and shaping tension each round. You are not being guided. You are being managed, misdirected, and tested. Every confirmation, every pause, every answer sits under suspicion. No longer does the Moderator just sit on the sidelines; they are trying to make you fail.

4. On 11/19, the Room Goes Silent

At a certain point, talking becomes a liability. The Silent Round shuts communication down entirely. Players fall back on secret Dead Drops, single yes or no questions, to pull the truth out of the Moderator without ever breaking cover. Will you be able to keep the investigation moving forward when you can’t use your voice to coordinate?

Timeline

Note this timeline is an estimate. Unforeseen circumstances in manufacturing, shipping, or world events may cause delays.

Estimated Shipping

We will be using Kickstarter.com to manage pledges and multiple Shipping Hubs around the world to manage shipping and fulfillment costs after the campaign. Due to the current volatility of shipping costs, shipping payments will be collected in Kickstarter well after the end of the campaign, close to our ship date, and will be based on shipping weight and actual shipping costs incurred. This will allow us to present the most accurate and up-to-date prices to pass savings on to you, our valued backers.

You will receive an email from Kickstarter.com a few months after the campaign to confirm your pledge and add any additional items you would like. In the Kickstarter pledge manager, you will be able to:

  • Confirm your pledge.
  • Add any additional items you would like to get.
  • Pay for shipping costs.
  • Pay for taxes and duties (if due) on the spot as well to avoid delays.

Please be aware that the shipping rate estimates provided in the table below are only approximations for shipping weights.

The prices mentioned do not include any optional items you may select. Optional items will increase shipping costs.

Final charges for shipping and sales tax or VAT (where applicable) will be determined based on actual shipping and tax costs incurred.

As of right now, we will be fulfilling all orders from hubs in the United States, Canada, EU, UK, Asia, and Australia. Orders from any other regions will be fulfilled from our hub in the United States. Shipping is customs/duty friendly in the U.S., EU, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. If you’re outside these regions, your local postal service may charge extra fees when your package arrives. Import taxes or VAT (if applicable) are set by your country and are the responsibility of the backer. Every country has its own rules, so if you’re unsure, we recommend checking with your local customs office before you pledge.

Note that, in compliance with sales tax law, we will be required to charge sales tax in Kickstarter for backers living within the United States and Canada. Also in compliance with EU and UK laws, VAT will be charged on Kickstarter.com for EU and UK backers. We cannot provide an accurate estimate of sales tax / VAT total since charges vary by location and are based on the total price of the order plus shipping costs. These rates will be determined accurately by the pledge manager and shipping manager.  The full sales tax / VAT to be charged on each pledge will be clearly displayed in our pledge manager or shipping manager before final shipping confirmation.

Unfortunately, import laws prohibit us from shipping games to certain countries. WE DO NOT SHIP TO: Iran, Russia, Venezuela, Afghanistan, and Cuba.

Please note that we can only guarantee delivery for pledges that are confirmed in Kickstarter.com within the specified deadlines. Unfortunately, we won't be able to deliver unconfirmed pledges.

Please be aware that the shipping rate estimates provided in the table below are only approximations for shipping weights. The prices mentioned do not include any optional items you may select. Optional items will increase shipping costs.

*Shipping Cost Estimate Ranges for Canada and Australia are estimated for the majority of backers in populated areas. Remote areas may incur additional charges.

About Us

Hi! We’re Jordan and Lauren Carter, and we created Carter Games because we believe some of the best memories are made gathered around a table with the people you love.

We both grew up playing games, but Ticket to Ride was the game that really changed the way we looked at them. There was something special about sitting down at a table and, for the next hour or two, stepping into a completely different world. From there, we discovered all kinds of games and genres, but one quickly became our favorite: social deduction.

We loved the conversations, accusations, deception, and those moments when you suddenly realize someone you trusted has been lying to you the entire game. But we kept coming back to one question: What if social deduction could be more than throwing out accusations and hoping you're right? What if you could actually investigate? Gather evidence? Track movements? Build a case and prove who you could trust?

Then, after a long day at work, Jordan was driving home and talking with a friend when an idea hit: What if players had the opportunity to change an event that had already happened? What if you knew a tragedy was coming, but had only seven days to stop it?

That simple “what if?” became History Rewritten: JFK.

From there came countless sketches, prototypes, mechanics, redesigns, late nights, and hours upon hours of playtesting. We built a game where social deduction became an investigation. Where Agents would have to uncover a hidden conspiracy, track its movements across Dallas, determine who at the table was working against them, and stop the plot before November 22.

Now, a year and a half later, we're finally ready to share an idea that in many ways feels like a lifetime in the making.

We deeply believe that a table is more than just wood and four legs. It's a place where friends become rivals, families laugh together, stories are created, and memories are made. And when you sit down to play History Rewritten: JFK, that table becomes something else entirely.

It becomes an active investigation. And you have seven days to rewrite history.

We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we've enjoyed creating it.

— Jordan & Lauren Carter
