If You Want Blood… A Heavy Metal 5e Campaign
Par Fables in Tables
Statut actuel
Fonds récoltés : 3 358 €
This is a campaign for the latest iterations of Dungeons & Dragons. It starts with a session zero adventure at the Doomsday Carnival and finishes with players performing open heart surgery...on a god...at the bottom of the sea.
Here's a blink and you'll miss it flick through of the first two chapters. If you want a more detailed look, then pop over to Anyflip and enjoy.
Blood Moon Campaign
The campaign takes place at the time of a strange natural phenomenon and fiesty festival: the Blood Moon. Once upon a time, it was a celebration of the harvest, but not anymore. The world has changed. Only the elves and the elderly remember a time when this land was green. But there are no more fields now. Nothing grows. The forest is dying. Magic is forbidden, so the Fey have fled, split their wylderland from our dried up old husk of a planet. All because some numbskull necromancer wanted to live forever. Well, it seems you can run, but not hide. As the Blood Moon looms large in the sky, the line between our world and theirs grows thin. There's hunting to be had in the Scuttlewood. Sewun Fayre is once more a place of drunkenness, gambling and other, more bloody competitions.
This is how it starts. It's the end of the world as we know it.
Setting: The Redlands
Can you survive where so many have died? Could you even undo the curse that chokes the life out of this desolate land? You'll have to journey through time and space to track down that bloody necromancer and his ungodly artefacts if you want to do that.
A fully thought-out, mapped-out, fleshed-out setting to explore with plenty of inspiration to add your own touches of world-building and further adventure.
If you want to hear us playing one of the adventures...
Why not check out the adventure that inspired so much of what's in this book: time-bending, necromancer-fighting, cat-eating, pirate-flirting fun! Follow two fey-adjacent sisters on their journey down the dried up Rio Sangré where they discover that there is something far worse than bad manners and a slimy pirate...and pay a terrible price.
Why isn't it just one book?
We've played a lot of D&D now, and one thing is clear. No matter how many books you own, no matter how much you pore over the fine print, no matter how much of a rules lawyer I am - I mean, you are - the main part of any adventure is imagination. Improvisation is the best part of every session. Therefore, what you want from a source book is a store cupboard, not a strict recipe. The books that we have already published - Dragon Carnival, Ace of Spades, Jailbreak - they've got so much in them to play with: mini-games, races, subclasses, adventures, puzzles, NPCs, monsters, equipment, feats, spells. So much to enjoy! Trying to combine all of that into a single book would create something even more wobbly and bloated than a gelatinous cube. We think it's better for you to have a carnival book, a travel book, a prison book, a casino book, a hunting book, a ship book so that you can pick them up and make them part of all your other campaigns.
You can have your cake and eat it too!
The full set of eight books is over 500 pages of content at the bargain price of £60 (PDFs) or £90 (PDFs and books).
We have now played a number of these adventures, and also understand that epic campaigns are, well, fucking epic! Whether you play them as an anthology of interconnected adventures for different parties, or a single linear campaign, there is a particular joy to the growing narrative of longer form TTRPGs. And that's why we've written this, incorporating all of the extras and what-ifs that we've explored since we wrote them originally, and since we've started to play and record them as part of a shared world: Gorgonia.
"To go forward, you must go back." (George R. R. Martin)
Between us, we have written and published sixteen adventure books for you to enjoy at your table. Thank you so much for your support, and for letting us know how much fun you've had along the bloody and brutal way. In the beginning, we created standalone adventures, working separately in our respective parts of dear old England. Now, we've finally got our act together and decided to revise, revamp and revitalise our earliest adventures into a cohesive and cut-throat campaign.
Here's an outline of the story.
What should I get? Is it worth it?
If you have backed many or all of our campaigns to date - may the gods look kindly on your death saves! - you will just need this new supplement to rule them all and in the darkness bind them. And if you are missing 1 or 2 to complete the set, you can get them as add ons to your reward tier at discounted prices.
If you're new to Greedy Gorgon Press, then you can choose between the Starter Set, the Full Campaign Set or blow the kid's inheritance on all Three Campaigns, bagging hardback copies of Born to Run and Killer of Giants - each campaign taking you to different parts of Gorgonia as your party grows from wide-eyed rookies to battle-hardened sellswords and spell-slingers.
The table below shows how the prices of the reward tiers for the campaign compare with the prices on our website. We are growing our business, and therefore are aiming to raise as much money as possible. We want to be able to spend more of our time doing this. But we are committed to giving you a good deal. £150 bid is going to make us dance with delight. But getting 10 books for that is also a bargain for you.
How are you fulfilling the campaign?
All digital products will be fulfilled through DriveThruRPG.
All physical fulfilment (a boy can dream) will be through our Website: www.greedygorgonpress.com. At the end of the campaign, we will give you a voucher code for your tier, and ask you to add it to the basket at checkout, paying for the postage and packaging directly on the website. We've done this in several other campaigns and its proven to be the most cost effective.
We do this because it is the cheapest way to charge you guys for the postage and packaging. It means we can charge you at cost, without having to factor in the deductions that we would incur if we did it through a pledge-manager.
Here's an estimate of the Postage and Packaging costs that we'll collect after the campaign:
Bonus Content
We have chosen not to do stretch goals that add more content to the book. It is already filled from the crown to the toe, topful of everything dice can do. Skill checks — ones with consequences. Rollable tables for dreams and drinks, rumours and rituals. Hex crawls. Mini games at carnivals and casinos. And obviously, plenty of killer combat. We’ve played enough D&D to know what’s great about it, what grinds and what’s missing. If You Want Blood is a variety pack that contains every flavour of fantasy roleplay. Therefore, instead of adding 10 more magic items or 10 more monster stat blocks, we are going to give away gifts.
If we reach £5,000, we will add a bonus zine from our back catalogue to your rewards. A PDF to digital rewards, and a book to physical rewards.
"Music is my religion" (Jimi Hendrix)
At Greedy Gorgon Press, we take inspiration from the amp-busting, head-banging, drum-thumping music of the heavy metal gods. Take a flick through the record bins of our previous adventures and you'll quickly find high fantasy, low-brow covers of AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Motorhead and Bon Jovi.
Enjoy the playlist for this campaign. It's got more bangers than a British butcher. Go on, turn up the stereo, open the windows and roll an intimidation check with advantage.
Who the hell are Greedy Gorgon Press?
Time to get bullish. To double down. To put your money where our mouth is.
We write adventures that are meant to be enjoyed. We write better puns, more literary descriptions and similes that are so profound they make you want to be a better person. We swear in ways the English language never knew it had the potential or the potency for. We want reading through our adventures to be a joy in itself; we want playing through our adventures to be metal af.
Don't believe me? No, I wouldn't either; I'm clearly on the shill. But hey, check out our back catalogue and you'll see what I mean.
Greedy Gorgon Press are a platonic love triangle of TTRPG enthusiasts dedicated to bringing a little more rock and roll to your RPG romps. Like a literary human centipede, you don't know where one of us starts and the other ends. We bring a touch of barbaric rage against the machine, a hint of Megadeth-saving rolls and a smattering of AC/DC to your, well, AC and DC.
We've got a website, cos we are professional as balls now: https://www.greedygorgonpress.com/
Greedy Gorgon Press; a statement: we use increasingly inventive invective in proper Bri'ish and Hiberno English, so, if that's not for you, thanks for reading this far! Our prose style has, likewise, been known to cause unanticipated sexy feelings, so, you know, look out for that.
TL;DR: In the (kinda) words of Faith no More: we swear a lot.
