A MOVIE FOR THE MIND'S EYE
Produced by Pocket Universe Productions and authorized by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., John Carter of Mars®: The Audio Series is the first multi-cast dramatic audio adaptation of the science fiction novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan®.
The series will commence with the classic tale that started it all, A Princess of Mars®, which Disney adapted into their 2012 feature film, John Carter. It tells of John Carter’s arrival on Mars (Barsoom) and his adventure with the strong, resourceful, and beautiful Martian princess, Dejah Thoris®.
This is the John Carter you’ve been waiting for—a cinematic experience told in audio, with a cast of top-tier talent and lush soundscapes that will whisk you away to the red planet where you will be immersed in John Carter’s legendary adventures.
It’s a movie for your ears—and your imagination.
“We couldn't be more pleased to be working with Pocket Universe Productions to create a John Carter of Mars audio dramatic series,” says Jim Sullos, President of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. “Edgar Rice Burroughs' immortal hero has never before been adapted to this medium, and an incredibly talented team will be producing it.”
THE CAST
Sean Patrick Flanery, the star of Young Indiana Jones, The Boondock Saints, and the recent film Nefarious, among many other features and TV shows, plays the swashbuckling hero of John Carter of Mars: The Audio Series. He also serves as an Executive Producer.
The incredible Wasé Chief will portray the Princess of Mars herself, Dejah Thoris. Wasé is an Oglala Lakota woman, model, actress, writer, and artist. She can currently be seen in Kevin Costner’s series of Horizon films.
Legendary for his chilling portrayal of the Emperor in George Lucas's STAR WARS saga, Ian McDiarmid has thrilled audiences worldwide on stage and screen, winning the Tony and Olivier awards. He voices the Strange Man in the Atmosphere Factory, the mysterious engineer who teaches John Carter the deepest secrets of Mars.
Bruce Boxleitner, Captain John Sheridan in Babylon 5, Tron in TRON, and the CIA operative "Scarecrow" in Scarecrow and Mrs. King, brings his long and storied career to Mars to voice the role of Kantos Kan, the Red Martian soldier who becomes John Carter's comrade in battle.
Tim Russ, well-known for his role as the Vulcan Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager, stars as the Thark warrior and friend of John Carter, Tars Tarkas. His credits in film include Karma, 5th Passenger, Live Free or Die Hard, Spaceballs, and television series regular roles for The Highwayman, The People Next Door, Samantha Who, and iCarly.

THE LEGEND OF EDGAR RICE BURROUGHS
“Edgar Rice Burroughs was, and is, the most influential writer, bar none, of our century.” – Ray Bradbury
When Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote the John Carter of Mars novels, he invented a genre that inspired storytellers from comic creator Alex Raymond (Flash Gordon) to blockbuster filmmaker George Lucas (Star Wars) to contemporary authors like George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones).
Cherished by generations of readers (and gamers) around the world, Burroughs’ grand Martian saga continues to reverberate in the popular imagination and remains one of the most beloved properties in science fiction and fantasy. These adventures have been told in countless books, comics, games, and most recently in film with Disney’s 2012 feature John Carter—but now, for the first time ever, as a multi-cast audio drama.

COSTS AND PLEDGES
We’ve endeavored to make the rewards affordable, but many of these items have a high manufacturing cost. In addition, funding a budget that includes voice talent, post-production, mixing, sound design, let alone writing, directing, and producing, requires a good sum of capital.
Please consider donating a little extra to help the production—we will use every last penny to create the definitive John Carter of Mars. And we will be forever grateful!
SHIPPING
Shipping prices will be calculated after the campaign and selection of rewards/add-ons to pledges. Using the post-campaign pledge manager allows backers to confirm rewards, shipping addresses, and final orders closer to our fulfillment date.
The pledge manager allows us to give you the most accurate shipping costs, instead of estimating costs and possibly charging more than needed, so while you will pay for shipping closer to our fulfillment date, you will pay the most accurate shipping rate for your order.
Refunds will not be given on the basis of needing to pay shipping once the campaign is complete. By backing John Carter of Mars®: The Audio Series on Kickstarter you agree to this and acknowledge that you have read this.
