Krampus and the Stolen Bell [D&D 5e]
Par Fenn The Stray
Statut actuel

A stolen bell. Cursed gifts. A winter celebration in peril.
Across Varnesk, sledges carry food, fuel and carefully wrapped gifts through the snow. Midwinter's Embrace is a time for neighbours to look after one another. This year, something terrible is travelling with the deliveries.
A bell has vanished from Dungret. Its frost giant owners are on their way to demand answers. And somewhere among the festival gifts, Krampus has found a way into homes that should have been safe.
Krampus and the Stolen Bell is an illustrated winter adventure for four characters, beginning at 5th level and advancing to 8th level, for use with the 2024 5e rules. Encounter adjustments support parties of three to six.

The theft is only the beginning
The theft is only the beginning
The characters arrive in a town preparing to celebrate. A missing heirloom soon draws them into disputed promises, suspicious paperwork and deliveries that do not add up. Following the evidence takes them beyond Dungret, along winter roads where other households are already feeling the consequences.
The people caught in this mystery have reasons to be frightened, angry or silent. Listen to their accounts, compare their records and decide whom to trust. A conversation with the giants may win more than a battle ever could.
Recovering the bell matters. So does discovering where the gifts are going before their recipients open them.

Investigation with consequences
Investigation with consequences
Your discoveries change the situation ahead. Warn the right person and a shipment may be held. Protect a witness and a useful account survives. Help people on the road and you may reach Bellstrand with allies who have their own reasons to stand beside you.
- Follow a trail of records, witnesses and compromised deliveries.
- Negotiate with frost giants whose grievance deserves to be heard.
- Choose which road investigations to pursue, or travel directly towards Bellstrand.
- Protect threatened households and uncover the danger hidden inside the gifts.
- Face demanding encounters in which preparation, allies and earlier choices matter.

A celebration worth protecting
A celebration worth protecting
Varnesk is a region of snowy roads, lakeside settlements and people who depend on one another to get through winter. Its celebration is built from small, practical acts of generosity: a warm meal, a repaired sledge, a load of fuel or a gift chosen for someone far away.
That warmth gives the danger its weight. Krampus threatens households, friendships and the trust that keeps the deliveries moving. The adventure brings festive colour and folklore menace to the same table, with room for compassion, suspicion and hard decisions.

About Me
Hi! I’m a 36-year-old adventure writer from Greece, and I’ve been playing TTRPGs and writing adventures for the past 15 years. I love getting lost in imaginary worlds, but the people around the table are what keep me coming back. The unexpected decisions, the ridiculous plans that somehow work, and the characters everyone still talks about years later are my favourite parts of this hobby.
Writing adventures is my way of sharing that love and giving other groups a starting point for stories that will become entirely their own.
AI Disclosure
For this first release, I worked with a very limited art budget. Five illustrations in the adventure were generated using AI and then retouched by a human artist.
All remaining illustrations in the adventure (the cover included) were created entirely by human artists.
