Leaf & Let Die

Statut actuel
Grow Something Beautiful. Grow Something Dangerous.
Leaf & Let Die is a tabletop strategy game in which forest gnomes cultivate strange Plant Creatures and then send them into battle against rival players.
The game combines card development with polyhedral dice-pool building. During Cultivation, players graft Roots, Vines, and Flowers together into a creature that grows visibly on the table. They also improve the personal supply of dice that powers their actions, moving from small dice toward stronger and more flexible possibilities.
Even weak rolls can remain useful. Low results can produce Critters, Wisps, and support effects that help players recover, adapt, or prepare for later turns. Strong rolls provide immediate force, but good play depends on how cards, dice, timing, and support work together.
Then the game changes.
During Battle, players send the creatures they have cultivated against one another. The cards and dice that were developed during the first part of the game become the strength players commit to the fight. Wounds can disable parts of a creature, and severe losses can prune away some of its growth. The result is a game with a distinct arc: first you create something living, and then you discover how well it survives being tested.
What Makes Leaf & Let Die Distinctive?
A Plant Creature that grows visibly
Root, Vine, and Flower cards are grafted together so that each player’s creature takes physical shape during play. The creature is not merely an invisible collection of bonuses—it remains present on the table as something players build and manage.
Build your cards and your dice
Players develop card abilities while also growing a personal supply of polyhedral dice. Those dice power Cultivation and later become the force committed to Battle.
Weak rolls still create opportunities
Low rolls do not automatically leave a player without options. They can generate Critters, Wisps, and other forms of support that help carry value into later decisions.
Cultivate, then battle
The game begins with growth, preparation, and engine building. It then shifts into direct confrontation, where the creature and dice supply each player developed are put under pressure.
Current Project Status
Leaf & Let Die has a working physical prototype and a complete playable rules system. It has undergone repeated development playtests and is now moving through continued blind playtesting and presentation refinement.
The rulebook is being revised for clarity and professional layout. Final artwork is being commissioned from human artists, and graphic design work is underway for the cards, player surfaces, rulebook, game box, and production files. Some photographs and video on this page show prototype components containing temporary AI-generated placeholder artwork. That artwork will not appear in the manufactured game.
The standard game components currently exist in prototype form, but they have not yet been mass-produced. Final manufacturing samples, colors, materials, finishes, dimensions, and packaging will be reviewed and approved before production.
The deluxe gnome figures and rigid Player Supply and Discard boxes are planned upgrades that have not yet been manufactured. The four gnome figures still require final character artwork, sculpting, factory sampling, and production approval. The rigid boxes require final structural specifications, artwork, a manufacturing sample, and approval before mass production. Any current illustrations, diagrams, or mockups of these upgrades are concepts rather than photographs of final production components.
Manufacturing and fulfillment options are being evaluated. The campaign will not launch until the production budget, component specifications, shipping plan, and delivery schedule are sufficiently established.
What Kickstarter Will Help Produce
If the campaign launches and funds successfully, the money raised will support the remaining work necessary to manufacture and deliver the game. This is expected to include:
- final artwork and graphic design
- production preparation and prepress work
- manufacturing samples and proofs
- the initial manufacturing run
- packaging, freight, and import expenses
- Kickstarter and payment-processing fees
- fulfillment preparation
- an appropriate contingency for production and shipping changes
The final campaign goal and detailed production budget are still being established. They will be finalized after updated manufacturing quotes, deluxe-component costs, freight and fulfillment estimates, and any additional project financing have been confirmed. A complete budget summary and production schedule will be published before the campaign launches.
