-description fournie par l’éditeur-

Présentation de la campagne

Mamma Mia! Syndicate – Project Story

In the world of pizza, not everything is as it seems. Behind the ovens, sauce, and cheesy smiles, a secret underground empire rules the streets. Welcome to Mamma Mia! Syndicate, where pizzerias are fronts, dough isn’t just for pizza, and every slice comes with a side of crime.

This game was born from the love for tabletop strategy, Italian food, and a little mischief. I wanted to create a game that’s fast, fun, and full of laughs—but also keeps you thinking. Players step into the shoes of rival pizzeria bosses, competing for tables, resources, and… the perfect secret sauce recipe. Every decision counts: get the right ingredients, sabotage your opponents, and expand your empire—without attracting too much attention from the "family".

With fun illustrated cards, clever mechanics, and a theme that blends humor, strategy, and chaos, Mamma Mia! Syndicate is designed to be a hit for both casual players and seasoned strategists.

By backing this project, you’re helping us bring this world to life: high-quality components, custom artwork, and a game that’s fun to play again and again. You’ll be part of the creation process, and see your support reflected in the final game.

So, are you ready to knead, slice, and serve… with a side of crime? The ovens are hot, the streets are dangerous, and your empire awaits.

A Passion Project ❤️🍕

Mamma Mia! Syndicate is 100% a passion project.

It’s just me — no company behind it, no big budget, no paid marketing, and no ads. Every piece of this game has been self-funded, designed, and brought to life by hand.

This campaign is the next step: with your support, I can bring the game from prototype to your table. If you like the idea, please consider backing or simply sharing it with friends — it really makes a huge difference.

Thank you

Early reviewer feedback

I reached out to the UKBG Review Circle on Instagram to get some honest, independent feedback on Mamma Mia Syndicate, and the response has been great so far. Reviewers have already asked to play and review the prototype, and the early reactions have been really positive. I’ll be sharing their thoughts here as they dig into the game. Please keep in mind this is still a prototype, so rules, balance, and components may change as I continue to refine the game.

"This is an early prototype of Mamma Mia! Syndicate, a brand-new, self-published indie game, and it already shows a lot of promise.

At its heart, this is a drafting and engine-building game where you’re running a pizzeria, grabbing tables, managing ingredients, and occasionally leaning into a bit of organised crime. Each round revolves around a card draft where you’re choosing between ingredients, permanent items for your restaurant, or shouting “Mamma Mia!” to claim new tables before someone else does.

What really stood out for us was how often you have to adapt on the fly. The draft can change quickly, tables disappear, ingredients dry up, and suddenly your carefully planned turn needs rethinking. It plays well with kids, but there’s enough tactical depth here to keep adults engaged too, especially at higher player counts.

This is definitely one to keep an eye on as it heads towards Kickstarter."

"Now how often is it you get a genuine prototype game through the door to test and try out? Thank you so much to the team at @mammamia_syndicate for trusting me with the early iterations of your game. Big thank you to @ukbg_review_circle for creating the opportunity for us to see this early prototype.

🫆 Game play 🫆

In Mamma Mia Syndicate players take on the role of a reformed mafia boss who’s left the life of crime behind him and is now running a Pizzeria with a shady twist. The game unfolds over four rounds where you’ll draft ingredients and item cards to build pizzas for your guests. These ingredients are the backbone of your menu, but it’s not long before your past life comes in to play with items that let you sabotage your rivals, skim off their hard work or bend rules in your favour.

Players will try to serve as many pizzas as their hand allows, scoring points for each successful order. Timing and card choices matter here, and a well-placed sabotage can block your opponents score, whilst clever piggybacking can see their successes become yours.

💭 Impression 💭

This game is fast and accessible, we found it easy to teach and there was a lot of playful banter. My mob boss voice still needs some work, but this is shaping up to be a really fun game. The idea of the pizza box as the game box must stay in the final version of the game and we loved the funny takes on popular pizza establishments. At it’s heart this is a good game and clearly a passion project of the team, I’d maybe like to see some slight expansion to the card pool but other than that we really enjoyed this.

Special thank you once again to the team behind Mamma Mia Syndicate! Items seen here are in development and are subject to change over time.

The game is currently in pre-launch on Gamefound, with backers able to follow for updates and perks."

"One of the joys of being part of this community is helping boardgame designers develop their games by playing prototypes. That's exactly what we've done with Mamma Mia Syndicate thanks to the @ukbg_review_circle (ad/loan) and we thought a #FirstImpressionsFriday (hosted by @nerdygirlgaming) would be the perfect time to share our thoughts!

⚙️ Overview ⚙️
In Mamma Mia Syndicate you are a reformed mafia boss who's turned their hand to the pizza trade. Over four rounds you will draft ingredients and items that will allow you to serve pizzas to your guests however the items will bring in your nefarious past into play. Items will allow you to sabotage your opponent and piggyback off of their successes. After you finish drafting you serve as many pizzas as you can which score you points. Whoever has the most points after four rounds, wins.

💭 Our thoughts 💭
This was the first prototype of the game so we're really fortunate to be able to check it out this early. The team has been receptive to some of the feedback we've had and they are working so hard to make it a brilliant game. The best thing is that at its core, this is a great game! The theme is absolutely fantastic and throws you into the world. We really hope that the pizza box is something that sticks with later versions. We love blind drafting and the items interacted really well with both boosting your ingredients and tampering with other players. We played this two players and there are some adjustments that can be made to make it more balanced. The cards are fantastic and really clear and the team are going above and beyond to make it even clearer, experimenting with icons rather than text. And saving the best thing till last, they have parody pizza shops and they have used some top quality puns which we can but applaud 👏"

"Ciao amici, are you hungry? Then join us for @mammamia_syndicate

You take the role of the boss of rival pizzerias, choose from one of 5 comically familiar names and get to stretching that dough.

Each player is dealt a hand of cards consisting of 5 ingredients and 2 item cards. The ingredients are pretty self explanatory but the items have all sorts of effects you can use to either get the edge over the competition or affect their ability to get ahead. Players also get dealt a single basic table card. Your goal is to make and serve pizzas according to the instruction on the card.

Players all place a card facedown and then flip them over at the same time. Then collect your ingredients or activate your action card. You also have the option to grab another table card. Shout "Mamma Mia!" when you place a card, this card is then discarded and exchanged for a table of your choosing from the pool. Your hand then moves around to the player on your left. Repeat this until all cards in your hand have been played.

We were pleasantly surprised by this game. We thoroughly enjoyed it from the off so took it to our local games group who enjoyed it just as much 😊. This is one we can see ourselves playing frequently."

🎲 we're talking about @mammamia_syndicate gifted to us for review via @ukbg_review_circle in it's prototype form

Mamma Mia! Syndicate is a drafting and tableau-building game for 2–5 players where you’re aiming to run the best pizza restaurant in town.

Played over four rounds, players serve pizzas to customers and can gain extra tables by discarding a card and shouting Mamma Mia! Each round you start with a fresh hand of seven cards (five ingredients, two item cards). You secretly choose one card, reveal simultaneously, then pass the remaining cards to the left — meaning you’re constantly planning ahead and trying to stop others pinching the ingredients you need.

Item cards provide bonuses (such as grabbing a token when playing a card), but the real twist is the theme: you’re a reformed crime boss swapping one kind of dough for another. Some item cards reference your shady past, like racketeering cards that score you points when opponents complete orders.

🌈🌈🌈 Points:

-Despite being a prototype, the care and love in the design really shows. The restaurant names are all pizza-based puns, which we loved. Plus the box is a pizza box!
-The simultaneous reveal and pass mechanic works brilliantly, keeping everyone engaged and forcing constant re-evaluation.
-The game is easy to learn, quick to teach, and flows smoothly.

🌧️🌧️🌧️ Points

-At 2 players, item cards felt a bit limited. We often drew defensive cards for items that never appeared. Some tweaks to 2 player games may be beneficial.
-More interactive item cards would really elevate the mafia theme , things like forcing discards, stealing ingredients, or even nicking completed tables. We know mamma Mia are already looking to add some of these
-With more sabotage, the game might work better as a race to complete five tables rather than a fixed four rounds.

Overall, we really enjoyed this prototype. It’s fast, fun, approachable, and a great pizza themed filler especially for mixed or non gamer groups. A few tweaks to the item cards could push the theme further and really unlock the game’s full potential.
