The Master Painter is designed for all hobbyists, tabletop gamers, 3D makers, and painters. The idea behind this project is to create a customizable paint rack that you can assemble like LEGO or other building blocks. To make it easier for everyone with a 3D printer, the design goal was to make it printable without any supports and strong enough so that it doesn't break, even with cheap PLA material.
The Master Painter is the result of all this and can be much more.
I aim to make it the most advanced and best Paint Rack or Paint Shelf on the market.
Where Can I Buy This?
You can buy the Master Painter - Paint Rack on Cults 3D or MyMiniFactory.
You don't need to buy the full system if you just want the IKEA Skadis add-ons.

Features
Modular
Make it smaller or bigger like you need it.
Pegboard
The pegboard and its addons are compatible with the IKEA SKÅDIS system.
LED
Your can print the Master Painter paint rack with or without the LED options.
As LED lightstrip we have used Govee H61263D2DE.
You can also use other LED stripes and Controllers like SP637E or ESP32.
Drawers:
Customizable multifunction drawers with properly functioning rails.
Robust and Stable Design
so in this case, even recycled PLA can withstand higher weights.
Printer Settings
Here are the Print Settings what i used for my paint rack and test prints.
- Layer Height: 0,16 mm
- First Layer: 0,12 mm
- Walls: 2
- Top Layers: 4
- Bottom Layer: 4
- Infill Density: 20%
Material
I used SUNLU recycled PLA for most of the test parts and for my own paint rack. Since it performs well with this economical material, you should encounter no issues with any other PLA brands. Additionally, I tested printed parts with SUNLU Meta PLA, SUNLU PETG, and SUNLU ABS, all without any problems.
If you choose to use PLA for the Snakebite connectors, there is a possibility that they may break after 2-3 uses.
For more frequent usage, I recommend using PETG or ABS for the connectors.
Test Printer and Slicer
For my paint rack and test prints, I used the following printers:
Printer
- JGAurora A5 from 2017
- Creality CR10 S Pro from 2019
- Bambu Lab P1S from 2023
Slicer:
- Cura 5.
- Bambu Studio
Because it works with such old printers, it should work with almost every FDM 3D printer.
Dimensions
Minimun size:
- Width: 420 mm (without LED) 440 mm (with LED)
- Height: 215 mm (without Pegboard)
- Depth: 213 mm
Every additional module will add 200mm in width and 100mm in height to the size of the paint rack.

Which paints will fit in the paint rack?
Stairs:
Small stair step:
on this will fit paint bottles with diameter up to 32,5 mm, for example:
- Citadel - 32,5mm x 42mm & 32,5 mm x 50mm
- Vallejo - 24,5mm x 78mm
- The Army Painter - 24,5mm x 75mm
- Reaper - 25mm x 75mm
- ProAcryl - 30,5mmx 85mm
- P3 - 30mm x 50mm
- Two Thin Coats

The inner dimensions are 192mm (depth) x 156mm (width) x 45mm (height).
in this will fit paint bottles with height up to 43 mm, for example:
- 24x Citadel bottles with 32,5 mm x 42mm will fit in one small drawer.
Big drawer:
The inner dimensions are 192mm (depth) x 156mm (width) x 85mm (height).
42x Vallejo - 24,5mm x 78mm will fit in one big drawer.
in this will fit paint bottles with height up to 85 mm, for example:

If you have a paint manufacturer that's not on the list, please contact us with the bottle size, and we will check if the bottle fits or find a solution for this.

Why do I need this?
If you have a work mat in front of your Master Painter, the drawers may be too low and will collide with the mat.

Why do I need this?
If you want to build your Master Painter with a really large pegboard, then you will need this. This will increase the stability of the pegboard.
