Big Adventure. Tiny Heroes.
Old-school fantasy adventures for AD&D, OSRIC, and compatible OSR games.
Mice of Legend is a campaign setting (demi-plane) where your party journeys from the human realm into the mouse-realm and, if they are lucky, survives long enough to return. Cats are towering predators. Owls haunt the night skies like dragons. Forgotten gods whisper through the roots of the earth.
And somehow, these little heroes keep getting themselves into very big trouble.
The adventures are written. The art is in. Let's put them on the table.

Explore it. Exploit it. Escape it.

Pirates control one part of the island. Privateers hold another. Territorial birds rule the forests and cliffs. Ancient ruins lie forgotten beneath the wilderness. Somewhere above it all rises Eagle Mountain.
Everybody wants something...most of them want it from you!
There is no prescribed path and no single solution.
Bargain with pirates. Aid the privateers. Rescue their captured champion. Brave the avian colonies. Explore ancient ruins. Steal a ship. Seek passage from the eagles. Or find a solution nobody expected...

It's your island now.
SMALL ADVENTURES. BIG TROUBLE.
Not every adventure needs to be 80 pages long. Sometimes you want to sit down for an evening, give the players a strange situation, and see what they do with it. That's why we created the Mice of Legend X-series: complete old-school adventures designed for a night of play.
The first six are finished.
X1: Eostre Egg Hunt. Explore a collapsing chocolate-rabbit warren, recover magical Eostre eggs, and escape before a cyclops tears the hill apart.
X2: Wild Unicorn Chase. Pursue a sick chipmunk unicorn, rescue missing trail-crew volunteers, and survive the predators hunting through the forest.
X3: Lost in the Canopy. Stranded high in a distant rainforest, recover scattered equipment and reach the ancient Dawn Beacon before sunrise.
X4: Grave Concerns. An obsessed weasel cleric is digging up graves to find a legendary magic item that will allow her to raise the dead.
X5: A Matter of Sacrifice. Militant axolotls will sacrifice a band of merchants to their deity unless you can stop them before the solar eclipse.
X6: Contents Under Pressure. Enter an enormous, abandoned waterworks where ottomatons and fungoids are locked in a destructive stalemate, and stop the entire complex from flooding.
SIX LITTLE ADVENTURES. ONE BIG BOOK.
For the first time, we're bringing X1–X6 together as Micro-Adventures Vol. 1.
The adventures already exist. This campaign helps us give them the same professional treatment as the rest of the Mice of Legend line, including professional layout and print editions.
Run them as side adventures during a Mice of Legend campaign. Drop one into your own old-school game when you need an adventure for the evening. Or raid them for locations, monsters, magic and ideas.
They are written for AD&D/OSRIC and are easy to adapt to OSE, B/X, and other compatible OSR fantasy games.
AND THEN THERE'S X7...
HOSTAGE SITUATION
Rescue the kidnapped child of a goblin chief from a band of well-intentioned "do-gooders." Sometimes being the heroes means rescuing someone from the heroes.
X7 begins the next series of six Mice of Legend micro-adventures, which will eventually become Micro-Adventures Vol. 2: X7–X12.
For this campaign, Hostage Situation is available as a PDF, with a special print edition available at.
More trouble is already waiting in the wings.
MADE FOR THIS KICKSTARTER
For this campaign, we're producing special commemorative editions of:
- M7: Eagles, Anchors & Outlaws
- Micro-Adventures Vol. 1: X1–X6
Both will receive commemorative covers available only through this Kickstarter. The adventures themselves will remain available after the campaign.
These editions won't.
WHAT YOUR PLEDGE MAKES POSSIBLE
M7: Eagles, Anchors & Outlaws is written. The first six X-series adventures are written. The artwork exists. Layout and production are underway.
You're not backing an idea and hoping that someday we make it.
Your pledge helps us finish production, bring these adventures to print, and keep making more Mice of Legend. And if the campaign goes far enough, there are more adventures waiting.
NEW TO MICE OF LEGEND?
No problem! You don't need to know anything about the setting to play these adventures.
Mice of Legendtakes the familiar assumptions of old-school fantasy and changes the scale.
A mouse is an adventurer.
A rat can be an orc.
An owl is effectively a dragon.
And a house cat?
Run. :)
M7: Eagles, Anchors & Outlaws can be played as a standalone island sandbox. The X-series adventures can be dropped into an existing campaign or played independently.
But if you want to start at the beginning, we've got you covered.
The Complete Mice of Legend Collection is available through our higher pledge tiers, including the Campaign Guide and the adventures that brought us here.
PNW FESTIVAL OF INDIE RPGs
This project is part of the PNW Festival of Indie RPGs, a collaborative Kickstarter event bringing together independent tabletop creators from across the Pacific Northwest. We're keeping the initial goal small, the adventure big, and the mice very much in over their heads. Follow the campaign now and join us when the doors to Portal Lake open October 27.
