📼 PROJECT STORY:
MISSING: HAVE YOU SEEN US
On July 14, 2026, I had an idea:
I wanted to make a horror game. I wanted it to be built in a way that it could be 1 player alone or a giant party. I wanted it to be randomized every game. I wanted it to have interchangeable monsters. I wanted it to be 80s themed. I wanted it to be deadly. I REALLY wanted it to be deadly.
I hit a challenge immediately. I'd never made a game before. I have DMed in D&D, but nothing like this.
So then I hit my second challenge. I don't have a working PC or laptop.
Armed with my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and a dream, I got to work.
Over the course of the next 40 days of neurodivergent hyper-focused insanity, in between being a father of 3 and working full time as a dog groomer, I created the game.
Not just the concept. I created the game.
Almost 300 cards. Searchable Items. Story Items. Monster Decks. Helpful cards. Deadly cards. A day tracker. The monster tracker. Locations.
I created almost 300 cards on my S20 Ultra. In Canva. One card at a time. Slowly. So very, very, slowly at times compared to my speed earlier in development when I was creating the engines of the game.
I did it, though. Now I want to share it with all of you. 80s. Horror. Interchangeable monsters. Cliques. Clique abilities. Clique Cards. Oh. I did end up making it deadly. That's why there is a Milk Carton deck. Fellow 80s kids will remember.
🕹️ THE GAMEPLAY LOOP
There is a monster in our town.
You choose your monster. Then you need to survive. You have up to 10 days to control the Monster problem. 10 days to search the town for items and story cards while trying to survive the Monster.
Choose one of 8 80s Cliques tropes (Jock, Prep, Cheerleader, etc). Choose a kid in that Clique. Each Clique has a daily Ability. Draw 3 Clique Cards for your Kid.
Survive the day. Go to sleep. Start the next day, Draw a Milk Carton Card. That random kid has gone missing. It could be yours. It could be your friend playing with you.
The Monster Tracker. The tug of war for the survival of the town. Move it to the right to gain control, lose control and it slides back to the Monster's side.
🌲 THREE ENDINGS. ONLY ONE BRINGS VICTORY.
* The Kids Win: Discover the hideout, its weakness and a way to destroy it. Move the tracker to gain control and maneuver the Monster to its lair. Then destroy it.
* The Monster tires of killing you loss: Go 10 days of Milk Carton draws, and the Monster moves to attack the next town. It's gone, but the town is devastated.
* Town Destruction loss: Monster Tracker moves all the way to the left. The monster owns the town. Hope is lost.
