What do you wish you knew about money at 16?
Most of us picked up our financial habits somewhere along the way — from what we saw at home, from trial and error, from things nobody ever explained clearly.
Now you have a unique opportunity: give your teenager the financial foundation you wish you'd had. And you might be surprised — in the process, you'll see some familiar things from a completely new angle.
Introducing Money Talk — The Family Finance Card Game
Money Talk is a 72-card conversation game that gives families a structure for real financial dialogue. Not a lecture. Not a textbook. A conversation — between parents and teenagers who both have something to share and something to learn.
72 cards. 4 categories. 18 cards each.
MONEY STORIES — Share the money experiences that shaped you.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? — Real financial scenarios. Your landlord is selling the building. 60 days to decide. What's your first move?
TEACH ME — Parent ↔ Teen. Share what you know about money — and ask what the other generation thinks. No one has all the answers.
MYTH OR FACT? — Separate financial facts from the misconceptions we grow up with.
How it works:
- Choose one category — or shuffle all 72 cards together.
- Draw a card. Read it aloud.
- Answer. There are no right or wrong answers.
- Listen. See where the conversation goes.
No points. No winners. Just real conversations.
What's in the box:
72 conversation cards · Reference card · Ages 13+ · 2–8 players · 30–90 min · CPSIA-compliant
Why I created Money Talk
I'm Iryna — a former banker and financial advisor with 20 years in senior leadership, and a mom of three sons.
At some point I realized something that surprised me: my kids, raised in a family of finance professionals, knew almost nothing about personal finance. The things I assumed they'd just pick up — they hadn't.
When I immigrated to the U.S., something clicked. Starting over in a new country — new system, new rules, everything unfamiliar — felt exactly like what young people experience when they step into independent life. And I understood: it's not enough to know finance yourself. You have to actually talk about it.
Money Talk is the conversation I wish I'd started with them sooner.
Why Kickstarter?
Your backing funds the first production run — and makes it possible for this game to reach the families who need these conversations most. Thank you for being part of this.
