You are on your own, far from safety, and running out of time. The Atlas died on approach, tearing itself apart against the Moon and leaving you alive but far from where you were meant to be. What remains is distance—325 kilometers of dust, wreckage, and abandoned domes—and 100-hours before the rebel operation you were meant to join begins without you. The Moon is hostile, your gear is limited, and every decision strips away margin you do not have. Old habitats hold salvage, danger, and the quiet evidence of failure. Move too fast and you break. Move too slow and you freeze, starve, or suffocate. No one is coming back for you. Reach the rendezvous, or disappear into the lunar waste like the names of so many before you.
Moon Base Countdown is a one-shot TTRPG Zine Adventure set in the Dumarest-universe. This adventure-zine is designed to be system agnostic, but plays best in sci-fi systems like Traveller, Cepheus Engine, Stars without Numbers. E.C. Tubb's Dumarest of Terra saga was a heavy inspiration in the creation of Marc Miller's Classic Traveller, and now is your chance to play in the universe that set the foundation for that game.
Straight from the pages of the 1970s/1980s pulp science fiction classic series Dumarest of Terra, this adventure sets players down on the Moon, a terraformed operation, long since abandoned, and now the staging ground for an attach on the Cylcan stronghold on Earth. Players are thrust into an unforgiving environment with limited resources and have to make their way across this forgotten landscape or become part of it.
Moon Base Countdown is a 32-page Zine with everything a DM needs to run this one shot adventure: Important information about the Moon and its environment, three distinct paths with unique locations, NPC encounters, environmental hazards adn scalable fro 4hrs to a full campaign.
The Zine was first demo-ed at Traveller-con 2025 in Lancaster, PA! And was influenced by the NASA exercise: Survival on the Moon
