Mount Olympus Playing Cards

My name is Randy Butterfield, and I’ve been designing Playing Cards, an hour or two each night, for almost 14 years now. Some of my past designs include the Red Rising, ORNATE, Wild West, Rome, Draconian, Honeybee and Medusa Decks. I’m a Senior Designer at an Ad Agency for my day job, and I live in the Indianapolis area with my wife and two kids.

The Mount Olympus Deck is definitely one of my all-time favorites! The Greek Gods and Goddesses theme is featured throughout the design. NOTE - I know that Hades is not categorized as an Olympian God, but you can't have a Greek Gods theme without him! The Mount Olympus Deck will be printed by Legends Playing Card Co.

For the Mount Olympus designs, I hand-drew all of the Courts, Aces and Joker people, monsters and locations in just pencil on paper. I then scanned the drawings into the computer and painted the coloring in Photoshop. I had a blast working on this project!

TUCK BOXES - There are two choices for the Mount Olympus Deck. The version with Zeus on the front and Hades on the back will be the standard version of the design. The  Dark Green Foil and Gold Foil design with the column pillar on the front is Limited to only 1,000 and will be a KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE item! The Limited version is printed on a premium White Pearlescent paper stock and the Cards have GOLD Gilded Edges. Both Tuck versions have the same Card designs inside.

BACK CARD - The Back Card for the Mount Olympus Deck features my pencil drawing of Mount Olympus, shown in a popular head-to-head setup. The greek border elements at the top, bottom and sides create a silhouette that's similar to an Ancient Greek shield design.

FACE CARDS - The Face Cards each include a greek border with a subtle sky background ground within the border. Each Suit has a specific sky color (Blue for Hearts, Orange for Spades, Grey for Diamonds, Greenish Blue for Clubs). The Courts, Aces and Jokers feature my pencil drawings. The COURTS include 8 Gods (Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Ares, Apollo, Hephaestus, Hermes and Dionysus) and 4 Goddesses (Hera, Artemis, Athena and Aphrodite). The ACES feature 4 Greek Mythological creatures (Cyclops, Cerberus, Medusa and the Colchian Dragon). The JOKERS include a vertical layout of the same Mount Olympus drawing from the Back Card design.

NUMBERS CARDS - The Numbers Cards for Mount Olympus contain large custom PIPS in the interior. They have details cut within that would not show up in the small size needed for the corner Indices (the reason the detailed PIPS are not in the Indices).

36-PAGE BOOK - The Mount Olympus Companion Book (Finish Size = 3.5”W X 5”H) will hold 36 Pages of info about the Mount Olympus Courts and Aces. Each Court character Ace creature will have a 2-Page Spread that includes a Bio Page and a page that contains a larger layout of the Court Card’s design. The Book will be printed on Felt Weave paper stock (120# Cover for the Cover Spread, 80# Text for the Interior Spreads).
