What's Inside

NPC Vault 3: The Undead contains 42 fully developed undead NPCs, with three distinct characters for each of 14 classic types:

Skeleton, Zombie, Ghoul, Ghast, Wight, Shadow, Specter, Wraith, Mummy, Vampire, Lich, Death Knight, Nightwalker, and Demilich.

Each NPC receives approximately four pages of usable material, including mechanics, personality, history, motivations, secrets, relationships, encounter ideas, and adventure hooks. The planned core book is approximately 168 pages.

Every undead type also includes one companion concept, giving you 14 additional ways to connect these characters to your party, factions, locations, and ongoing stories.

Using the Vault is simple: choose the undead type that fits your adventure, compare its three NPCs, and select the character that best serves your session. Use the complete entry immediately, adapt it to your setting, or borrow individual ideas for an NPC of your own.

That's why we've prepared a free, public demo file containing one fully designed undead NPC from the Vault—complete with mechanics, personality, history, motivations, secrets, relationships, encounter ideas, and adventure hooks. Download it, read it, and see exactly how each entry flows from usable stat block to roleplaying fuel. If these characters spark ideas for your table, the other 41 will too.

A POD reward is not a physical book. You receive a code that lets you order a hardcover from DriveThruRPG at a discount. The POD portion of your pledge covers converting the PDF into a print-ready file; if you want the physical book, you order it separately and pay DriveThruRPG for printing and shipping, with the POD portion deducted via your code.

PDF-only backers pay once and are done. PDF + POD backers pay for the PDF and the POD code, then later redeem that code on DriveThruRPG and pay printing and shipping separately. This keeps the book cheaper and faster, simplifies logistics, and avoids warehousing waste.

Custom assets are briefly mentioned in the POD. They would significantly increase page count and printing/shipping costs, so the POD will contain only an index and a short description of each custom asset. The full custom content remains in the digital files, which carry no added print costs.

The 42 NPCs and 14-type structure are the complete baseline. Extended goals add new tools and expansions; they do not unlock missing parts of the promised core book. POD backers will receive a DriveThruRPG redeem code after the print file is approved, then order the hardcover separately and pay the printer's production, shipping, and tax costs.
