This is a small Make100 project, designed to grow quietly over time.
It brings together two closely related pieces:
– The Wixarika Soñadora, a new 7-card Soñadora deck for Oniria
– The Wirikuta Game, a standalone postcard-sized game
👉 Don’t own Oniria yet? The base game is available as an add-on.
Language availability:
Cards and rulebooks are available in English, French, and Spanish — you will be able to choose your preferred language.
The Wixarika Soñadora does not add new rules to the base game; it changes how the path is read and anticipated.
It is intended for players who already enjoy Oniria,
as well as for those who are curious to discover the game through this variation.
Both games are already playable.
The core rules and structure are set; this Make100 campaign helps us refine and produce this specific edition, which will be manufactured alongside our other upcoming games later this year.
This project exists because Oniria was conceived as a game that can be spoken in more than one voice.
We are Yeast Games, an independent self-publishing house creating original and immersive games, developed and manufactured in the Landes region of France.
This campaign presents a new variation of Oniria.
The base game is required to play. If you don’t already own it, it is available as an add-on.
After a strong reception from players and a nomination at the FLIP Eco-Ludic Award, we are introducing a new Soñadora shaped by the voice of a pre-Hispanic semi-nomadic people from central Mexico: the Wixárika.
This variation joins the Otomí and Maya voices already present in Oniria.
It does not replace them, nor complete them. It offers another point of entry into the same game.
This is a deliberately limited edition, produced on a small scale, according to our usual radical eco-responsibility standards: no plastic, and manufacturing within 50 km of our assembly workshop.
Oniria is an immersive, asymmetrical trick-taking game.
One player takes the role of the Soñadora (the Dreamer) and faces the other players, who embody the Sombras (the Nightmares). The game unfolds as an initiatory journey, represented by the Senda de los Nahuales, a set of path cards that structure each round.
All players use a limited deck of cards and play tricks along the path. The constraints of the journey are known from the start, turning each round into a game of anticipation, misdirection, and careful reading of the others’ intentions.
The Soñadora plays alone against all. The Sombras must cooperate to stop her progression, yet they score individually, creating a constant tension between alliance and rivalry. Power is unevenly distributed, and victory depends less on optimization than on timing, coordination, and reading the table.
The Oniria – Wixarika Soñadora introduces a new Soñadora variation, composed of a 7-card deck, fully compatible with Oniria.
This variation does not alter the core structure of the game. Through this Soñadora, the path itself becomes a central element of play, shaping decisions and timing without modifying the underlying rules.
All illustrations are hand-drawn and echo the traditions and beliefs of the Wixárika people, in continuity with the cultural approach developed by Yeast Games, and more specifically within Oniria.
The Wirikuta Postcard Game is a playful evocation, not a representation, of the sacred pilgrimage undertaken by the Wixárika people toward the Wirikuta desert, in what is now the state of San Luis Potosí, México.
This pilgrimage, recently inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, stands as a living testimony of pre-Hispanic cultures. Our approach was not to reinterpret it, but to document it through play.
The design of this postcard game is based on the official UNESCO nomination file. All the pilgrimage stages have been integrated, following the structure and progression of the journey itself.
This path is also a lived one. Gabriela, the author of Oniria, grew up along the pilgrimage route, near Fresnillo, in the state of Zacatecas, where the presence, passages, and care of the Wixárika people are part of everyday life.
The Make100 initiative has always appealed to us.
Not because of the number itself, but because it invites us to question consumerism and overproduction in the world of games. These are issues Yeast Games addresses on a daily basis, through a local and deliberately limited production model, but also through concrete editorial choices.
Since the beginning, all our productions have been printed in runs of 750 to 1,000 copies. Our games are made in small quantities, by choice, and this reality naturally resonates with the spirit of Make100. This is why we identify with this initiative and take part in it.
But why Oniria?
Each project we have presented within Make100 had its own reason to belong there. Which Side Antiwaste for its ecological and anti-consumerist stance. Bonnie and Clyde, a roadmap through history for a deliberately unconventional format that this type of campaign allowed us to embrace.
This year, Oniria gives us the opportunity to go further, in continuity with what it has carried since its origin.
Oniria expresses itself through variations inspired by pre-Hispanic peoples. Voices shaped by different relationships to time, to the living world, and to production. Their presence in the game does not deliver a message, but creates a shift in perspective: another rhythm, another way of looking at our contemporary practices.
Through this project, we are not seeking to assert, but to question — to slow down, to produce what is necessary, and to accept that not everything is meant to be multiplied.
Mexican-born game designer, Oniria is her first published game. Her work draws from personal memories, dreams, and lived experience, shaping the game’s tone and sensibility.
Historian specialized in Mexico, he designs both socially engaged games (Which Side, Bonnie and Clyde) and narrative-driven fantasy games (Moonlight Brewers). Oniria sits at the crossroads of these approaches.
Illustrator working entirely by hand, he explores different eras and cultural references through a detailed and expressive visual language.
All Oniria components are produced locally in the Landes region of France, within a limited geographic radius.
More than 80% of the game components are printed within 10 km of our headquarters in Sort-en-Chalosse, without plastic lamination. Game boxes are manufactured from recycled, FSC-certified cardboard. Final assembly is carried out locally, in a small workshop network.
