So Much More!

Petmon is a 200+ page rulebook. There is SO MUCH more I wish I could write here.

Which is why I'm letting you read the entire book FOR FREE!

I am a firm believer in customers making informed decisions. Do not just take my word for it that the game is good. Read through it yourself, have a one-shot or short campaign with your table, and decide then if you wish to back our project!

Disclaimer: The following is only the plain text of Petmon. Flourishes like art and layout have yet to be added.

Where Do We Go From Here?

The complete text of Petmon is done. It is edited as well. What is left for the project is as follows:

  • Complete all requested art assets
  • Complete layout
  • Compile PDF and put up for sale
  • Configure digital copy for print

You will get a playable game if you back the Kickstarter, guaranteed. The game is finished, and we have plans to provide the draft to everyone who backs at the PDF tier and above soon after the Kicksstarter is completed. This means that even if the art assets and layout will take a bit longer to de done, you will have everything you need to play with your group, while you wait for our artists to finish their commissions and our layout team to then finis the layout

This is a Kickstarter to publish a game that is already written.

The Team

Kamala Kara Arroyo (she/her): I have been developing Tabletop Roleplaying Games since I started in the hobby. The prior is not even an exaggeration. My first time entering the hobby was in early 2012, when I was requested to participate in the playtest of "Rule Of Cool's" game, Legend d20. Within the same three months, I began tinkering with my own ideas for games.

I usually make smaller, narrative focused games. Here are some games I've developed:

  • Friendship, Effort, Victory
  • We Dig Giant Robots
  • The Lost
  • Dungeon Bastards
  • The Lost World Roleplaying Game
  • Hunt For The Elder Gods
  • My Alien Girlfriends

I am a humongous fan of Digimon, having seen the original 1999 series when it aired, and watch it up to season 5, Data Squad. Petmon comes my love for the monster taming genre, which also includes works like Medabots, Monster Rancher, Pokemon, Zoids, etc.

Jonathon Boyle (He/They): Jonathon Boyle is a writer and editor working out of the Twin Cities. As co-owner of Bright Bard Games, they design games about little guys doing their best (and occasionally fighting god), and games that encourage players to cultivate creative habits. You can find them regularly posting on Bluesky and streaming game design on Twitch. You can find their games on their website!

Bri de Danann (She/Her): Bri is one of our Lead Artists. Bri is a digital artist and streamer working out of the Twin Cities. Bri is one of our lead artists. Bri is the artist and co-owner of Bright Bard games; her eye for all things vibrant and beautiful is evident every time she puts pen to pad. You can find her posting regularly on most socials, or streaming art, games, and goblins Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays on Twitch.

Carly A-F (she/her): Carly A-F is a freelance illustrator & author from the UK. She is the director of art and one of our main cover artists. Her work is a combination of traditional media (charcoal, acrylic paint, pastels, chalk, pencil and ink) mixed with digital colour. She illustrates sci-fi, fantasy & horror, as well as picture books, editorial, games, graphics & more! Nature, science, myth & magic are my main inspirations. You can find her works through her linktree.

Chris Falco (he/they): Chris is the layout artist. He runs a studio called Falconian Productions. He's a leftist designer, writer, layout artist, and programmer (sometimes), and tends to enjoy games with a dark fantastic nature. You can find them on Bluesky, Itch.io, Patreon, & Mastodon.

D.M.G. (She/Her): D.M.G. is a copy editor and artist in France. She's currently working on Tamakon, a tactical TTRPG meant as an homage to the Mega Man Legends franchise. Her aim is to develop intricate games with a rich universe accompanying them. When she remembers to, you can find her posting stuff on her Bluesky!

Third-Party Licensing

I am a firm, firm believer in third-party licensing.

I firmly believe our hobby is at its best when people freely share their ideas. We are at our worst when we worry about copyright, about trademark, and all these silly ideas of "owning a thought" or "owning a word" that is somehow normalized in our capitalist society.

Petmon's Pet Engine will be released on the Creative Commons using "Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International." You can read about it here: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/deed.en

Add-Ons

On top of the regular rewards, we will be offering discounted prices on digital copies of my previous two, major release titles. Each PDF for only 5 USD!

Friendship, Effort, Victory was my first major release. This Powered By The Apocalypse title emulates the hot-blooded, stylish, high-octane world of shonen battle manga!

Inspired by shows like Megas XLR, We Dig Giant Robots is a comedy game designed for one-shots. Your group of hooligans find a rad, giant-robot car and now found themselves in colorful, wild, and outrageous (and destructive) adventures full of giant-robot action.

Fulfillment By DrivethruRPG

All backers receiving a digital copy will receive a link to download the PDF copy of the game through DrivethruRPG at no additional cost.

OPTIONAL DISCOUNTED PRINT-ON-DEMAND VERSION – For this campaign, you will have the option of using DriveThru’s Print-On-Demand (POD) service to purchase a physical, printed copy of the books and/or cards included in your list of rewards directly from their POD partners at discounted cost. When the POD versions are available to order (sometime after the books/cards have gone to print), you will receive links to purchase these versions of the books/cards from DriveThru.

No AI was used in the creation of this game! This is a 100% "Human-Made Product!"
