Adventure Overview
The adventure adheres to OSR principles such as player agency and sandbox exploration. The players are dropped in a situation, not a plot.
It's grounded in real history and geography, but reimagined through Pirate Borg's Dark Caribbean. Fantastical elements are used more sparingly but arrive with a thunder.
The factions and NPCs have clear motivations and a shared history with one another. It's up to the players to decide whom to trust, whom to betray, and whose ear is most susceptible to lies.
THE SETUP
Don Pedro de Salazar is sailing for Maracaibo on what he believes is a quiet errand.
What he does not know is that pirates have been hired to assassinate him once he reaches Lake Maracaibo.
Can the pirates stay out of sight of the Spanish watchmen? How will they pass the fort that guards the treacherous channel? Might help be found among the many feuding factions of the peninsula, and if so, how might they be made to do the pirates' bidding, willing or otherwise?
And what happens when they learn that someone else has taken a keen and rather strange interest in Don Pedro . . . ?

The Sea Shanty
The sea shanty from the Stretch Goals is completed!
It's about Mercy Jones, who went to sea at thirteen. Before long she started to carry four pistols across her chest (the "four black dogs") to protect herself against insults, unwelcome advances, and people touching her stuff.
Lyrics & melody: Christian Hyde Smith. Voice & instruments: Heyden Gary.
