Le tag « Jeu de plateau » est trop générique : il sera retiré. Jusqu'à 3 tags du site. Le tag STL retire la fiche du catalogue (fichier 3D, pas un jeu). Ensuite plus de modification ici : un mauvais tag se signale.

Introduction

The Temple of Isis is a modular 28mm scale model of the famous Temple in Pompeii. The individual parts making up the temple itself and the temple sanctuary are optimized for FDM printing but can of course also be printed in resin. The supports are minimal (mostly for doorways) and there are options for pre-supported parts included. The temple is ideal as a centrepiece for a wargame or skirmish game or simply for display.

There are rewards included for the standalone temple and the temple and sanctuary buildings. There are also 2 add-ons for figures and furniture. The all-in option has everything in the Kickstarter.

A free figure is available for download here if you'd like to test your FDM settings. There are photos of some of the figures and furniture below.

Scaling and Accuracy

The model was created to be as accurate as possible using photographs, drawings and measurements of the actual temple. Several academic papers were also consulted to ensure the model mirrored the original as far as humanly possible. However, there were some changes made along the way so that the model could be printed easily and the areas accessed more easily during play. This is discussed at length in the instructions. The model is ideal for 28 or 32mm printing and will easily scale upwards. Although it would be possible to scale down it is not recommended as this would lead to a loss of detail.

Reward Levels

There are 3 reward levels:

  • The Temple level is for the standalone temple itself, including optional pieces, all of the statues in the temple, the temple altars and the temple stellae.
  • There are options for closed or open temple doors and all doors, including the priests door at the side, are free moving.
  • There are also options for the Tympanum, front and back and also for the Corinthian columns for ease of painting.
  • The frieze decoration has options for engraved or relief lettering, or blank, and the entablature flowered decoration can be replaced with a blank one.
  • The Sanctuary level includes all of the above plus all of the outbuildings, the outer walls, the flooring, the portico structure, all of the altars, the Purgatorium, the waste pit and all of the the remaining statues.
  • All doors are free moving and there is the option for the main entrance door to be open or closed.
  • The central flooring can be printed with or without location pegs for the temple and its accompanying structures.
  • The rooms have several optional mosaic floors including plain and there are also curtains for certain rooms.
  • The All-In level includes all of the above but also includes the furniture and figure add-ons.

Add-ons

The two add-on packs compliment the temple and really bring it to life.

The Furniture Pack

This contains many files for furniture that is correct for the period and also correct for the temple. Some items are copies of the original pieces that are still on display at the Naples Archeological Museum.

The pack includes:

  • Various types and styles of couches, for either sleeping on or when using in a Triclinium for eating
  •  Stools and chairs of various types, from the simplest 4 legged stool to the Sella currulis, a folding chair
  • Tables, small wooden or bronze plus larger marble designs. Also included are small tables with various table tops containing oil lamps or jugs and cups and cloths with food bowls and dinnerware for larger tables
  • Amphorae of 6 different types, common to Pompeii
  • Chests and cupboards
  • Oil lamp stands
  • High and low braziers
  • A food warmer for the Ekklesiasterion
  • A hearth and shelves for the kitchen

The Figure Pack

All of these figures are relevant to the temple environment and some can also be used in other scenes. The priests and priestesses are dressed as they should be for worship of the goddess Isis, most are bald headed and are carrying or using various musical instruments whilst taking part in one of the daily ceremonies or perhaps the Navigium Isidis (Vessel of Isis) which saw a procession of the servants of Isis and it's followers to celebrate the start of the season of safe sailing (March 5th).

Each standing figure can be printed with or without a base.

The pack includes:

  • Priests in various ceremonial roles
  • Priestesses in various ceremonial roles
  • Servants at work in the kitchen
  • A head priest writing at his desk
  • Visitors to the temple
  • A priest taking a bath!

Painting

The entire building was, of course, white, with terracotta roofs. The outside of the main temple building was painted to resemble marble. The inside of the sanctuary was elaborately painted, as was the inside of the Ekklesiasterion. For some good insights please see the amazing collection of photos on Pompeii in Pictures.

Notes for Printing

Every file in the Kickstarter has been optimized for FDM printing but there is no guarantee that every file will print successfully, or at least with very little post printing clean up. Results will always vary depending on the printer used and the slicer settings.

All of the temple buildings were printed with a 0.4 nozzle at 0.12 or 0.16 layer height. It is recommended to print the smaller pieces of furniture and the figures with a 0.2 nozzle, and a layer height of 0.1.

I hope you get enjoyment from printing this collection and from having the buildings and figures on your tabletop.

Future Designs

There are more buildings in the works. Although The series will concentrate on Pompeii there will also be buildings from other areas, including Herculaneum, Ostia and Sicily.
