Postcard Carcosa is a tiny game of Cosmic Horror. You play as a group of turn of the century explorers who have stumbled through eldritch misfortune into the nightmare realm of Carcosa. Your goal is to help each other to escape before the Masque ends and the King in Yellow unmasks...
Postcard Carcosa is a Co-op puzzle and strategy game for 1-6 players that can be played in about an hour. It is an ideal game for filling time while waiting for that one member of your gaming group who is always late to arrive.
Postcard Carcosa requires several 6 sided dice (D6s) and tokens (Coins work well) that must be supplied by the players. The game itself consists of several high quality postcards, making it more portable than any other boardgames.
Choose your Explorer
Each player chooses an Explorer with different talents and skills that they can use to navigate Carcosa and help their companions. Choosing different Explorers creates a different game set up.
The Revelers Prepare
You decide the locations where the king will manifest and then roll a die to determine how each manifestation is expressed and its level of power.
Search from Yhtill to Hali
You roll your Explorer dice as you face challenges along the path to be taken by the grand procession of the King in Yellow and hope that the gaze of the King does not fall upon you.
Navigate Carcosa
As the procession follows the path, each die is activated in turn, and if you succeed at the challenge in that region of Carcosa, you will gain resources that allow you to purchase gifts that will make the next procession easier.
The Wheel Turns
At the end of each procession, the Yellow Sign spreads through Carcosa and the power of the King waxes. If you are unable to unlock the gates of Carcosa before the Masque reaches it grand climax, you and your companions will join the procession and the revelry yourself. Forever.
USE OF AI ART:
I am NOT using ANY AI art, even for placeholder art, even though it says I am below. I WAS using AI art for placeholder art at the beginning of this project, but I have removed it. Unfortunately, Kickstarter does not allow me to change the disclaimer below. I understand the ethical problems with AI art and I do not support projects that use it.
Here are images of my previous Postcard Games - Postcard Galactic, Postcard Dungeons, Postcard Cthulhu, and Postcard Empire. This game will be of the same quality in art and construction!
