Hello!

I normally make things that are complex. For this project however, I have been challenging myself to do more with less, and embrace a simpler game design for this, my very first GameFound launch. No counters, no dice, just cards and instructions.

Prime Flux is game with a custom deck that can be used for a variety of card game types. The base game is a strategic trick-taking game but it was inspired actually by an innovative poker game. I was a beta tester for a video game company in the 90's. They were making a text-based game with a visual UI, and it included a really great card game called Trin. It had 3 base suits with numbered cards and suit of face cards with special functions. The cards featured a the elements of Earth, Air, and Water. My theme is an homage to Trin's beauty.

I am making the other modes Stretch Goals, because they will require additional cards and the book has to be longer. This includes Solitaire Mode, Poker Mode, and Rummy Mode.

I originally designed this game in 2022, I ordered a prototype deck with basic artwork,  but i never had any luck trying to connect with an artist.

This year I started using AI for work and I had been playing with AI generated artwork when the original artist who worked on Trin commented, "Since I'm too busy, why not use Ai, this artwork is perfect for your card game". She right! So I picked this project back up and made a redesign. Then I did some more playtesting, and did another design adjustment.

Right now, the card art is 100% complete (AI made versions), and I am just finishing up generating the instruction book in multiple languages.

My goal for this specific project is now to successfully launch a retail game, the play test funding idea has been scrapped, The reward structure has been rebuilt to reflect this .

What I am offering is to opportunity to buy a retail version of the game deck that will be fulfilled after this project is funded,

I am also offering the opportunity to purchase sponsorship space on each card of the decks printed in this run. These messages/shout outs must be approved, and will be seen by any who plays the game and scans the code.

If you want to help me make this dream a reality, I am including more ways to help that don't involve physical rewards. Pitch in $5 towards the goal and I will send you my high-resolution wallpaper of the game artwork. I am also selling 3 Producer credits and 1 Executive Producer credit in the printed game manual.

I guess that is it for the story for now, I will just say, it really is a fun game, and I could really use a victory, ya know? I want to parlay this experience into more games, and really make a solid run at chasing my dreams of being a game designer and publisher full time.  Help me get there, and I will make great things. Thank you for your time!

Prime Flux: Trick-Taking Mode Gameplay

Prime Flux: Trick-Taking Mode is a card game for 2-6 players. The objective is to be the first player to collect the target number of tricks.  Strategize when to dump low cards and when to play your high ones.  Don't wait too long though, because the best cards can lose their usefulness and become the worst cards in an instant!

Gameplay:

The game progresses in a series of rounds.  Each round, the deck is shuffled and all the cards are dealt out evenly among all players (discarding any extra for the round  without looking at them).  The number of hands per round is based on how many people are playing and how many Disruptions are added to the deck.

Each new round, the player with the lowest Basic Fire Card (2-12) leads the first trick by playing it face-up in the center of the table. For the rest of the round, the winner of the last trick leads the next one.

Each Trick begins with the Leading Player playing the Leading Card.  Going clockwise, each other player plays a Challenge Card.  Once everyone has played a card, the player who played the card with the highest Value wins the Trick. Group all the cards as a single stack, and add it to their Score Area.  If the trick has any Captured Corners, keep those tricks separate.

(If you turn every other trick sideways as you add them, you can easily count you current score.)
Scoring:
The round ends when all players run out of cards. Each trick won is worth 1 point, unless it has any Captured Corners, which make it worth 5 pointer per Captured Corner. Calculate and write down each player's score before the dealer collects all the cards, including the discard pile, and hands it to the player to their left, who is now the dealer for the next round.

Winning the Game:
The game continues until each player has been the dealer for a round. The player with the highest cumulative score at the end of all rounds wins the game!
Team Play
Prime Flux is more fun with friends who are teamed up against other friends in a battle for points and glory.

Partner up:
Form teams of 2v2, 2v2v2, or 3v3. When you sit around the table, make sure no one on the same team is sitting next to each other.

Each team combines all the points earned by each member.  All the other rules stay the same.
