—description du concepteur

Présentation de la campagne

An old man was tending sheep in the western wilderness on Mount Horeb when he saw a bush that was burning, yet was never consumed. From that fire came the voice of God, and a promise: that His people would be delivered from slavery and led to a good land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

That man was Moses. That promise became a journey through miraculous events, culminating in the parting of the Red Sea, back to an ancestral home.

Quest for Canaan puts you at the head of a people making that journey real: building homes and walls, growing caravans, and standing beside the Biblical figures who shaped Conquest, Judges, and Kings. It's a game about legacy: what you build, who you help along the way, and what outlasts you when the story moves on to the next era.

How to Play

Quest for Canaan is a semi-cooperative civilization builder for 2–4 players, played across three distinct eras: Conquest, Judges, and Kings. Each era brings its own cast of Biblical figures, its own pressures, and its own opportunities.

You Need Your Rivals to Survive

This isn't a game where you quietly build your own kingdom in a corner. When war comes, it comes for the whole table, and no single player's army is usually enough to meet it alone. Wars require a combined total of Military icons based on how many players are at the table. You'll need to pool your strength with the very people you're racing against, or the enemy remains in the land, and the penalty compounds round after round.

Win together, and everyone who contributed shares in the spoils.  Every card sent into that battle also counts toward your own personal Legacy.

That balance is what the game is built on: cooperate enough to survive, compete enough to win.

52 Figures, Each With a Story

At the heart of Quest for Canaan are 52 Biblical figures, each brought to life with original art by illustrator David Harrington. These aren't anonymous game pieces. They're Moses, Ruth, Jael, David, and dozens more, each carrying a personal Legacy challenge you can choose to complete for points.

Some figures are quietly connected. Complete Ruth's challenge, and the player holding Boaz benefits too. Watch for the Messianic Line:  six figures scattered across all three eras. Collect one, and you're rewarded. Collect all three, one from each era, and the payoff is greater than the sum of its parts.

Every figure also carries an Attribute (Royalty, Warrior, Family, Artist, Judge, or Priest/Prophet), granting a passive advantage that shapes how you'll want to play the era ahead of you.

A City Worth Defending

Homes and city walls aren't just points on a track. A home built on open land is worth 5 Legacy points, but wall it in alongside your neighbors' homes, and it's worth double. Deciding how to lay out your city, and when to invest in walls versus expansion, becomes one of the game's subtle, ongoing strategic threads.

This project has been years in the making, built around a simple idea: that a game about faith, community, and legacy should have meaning, with choices that matter, a journey that unfolds, and a story players will remember long after the last turn.

Our Team

David Harrington  David is an illustrator with a passion for bringing the Bible's history to life. A graduate of ArtCenter College of Design, where he earned a degree in illustration with honors, he brings a trained artist's eye to every corner of the game. Quest for Canaan grew out of his desire to build a civilization-building board game set in one of Scripture's most fascinating and tumultuous stretches: the conquest of Canaan, the era of the Judges, and the dawn of the Davidic Kingdom. He's collaborating with game designers Nick Harrington and Ethan Borman to bring that vision to the table.

Nick Harrington Nick grew up in Southern California, and though he now calls Florida home, he still loves In-N-Out and the Pacific Ocean. He holds a PhD in bioengineering and co-founded a health tech startup. His creative spark comes from growing up as the son of artist David Harrington and spending much of his childhood at Disneyland. Nick loves building immersive experiences that push players to be clever and creative, whether that's a real-life Hunger Games he staged for his college friends or a board game like Quest for Canaan. Always pondering something deep, he enjoys reading C.S. Lewis and taking in the beauty of nature. At the center of his life are his faith in God and his love for his wife.

Ethan Borman Ethan is an independent artist with roots in Ecuador, where he spent the first ten years of his life living among an Amazonian tribe. He went on to study film in Chicago and has since worked on a variety of short films and video projects. Endlessly creative, he spends any time he isn't with his wife and kids making art and collaborating with fellow artists. Ethan loves telling stories, making people laugh, and designing board games, all with the aim of bringing glory to God in everything he does. He now lives in Eastern Washington with his family, where he works, gardens, serves at a local church, and keeps dreaming up new creative projects.

Where We Are

We're now in the final stretch. We're refining the rulebook so it's clear and easy to learn at the table, polishing the components so they feel as good as they look, and getting everything ready for launch. Your support now helps us take the game the rest of the way, from a finished design to a finished box on your shelf.
