We’re often asked how our product compares to Epic Encounters. Both offer exciting ways to bring cinematic battles to your table – but the focus is different.
To match the scope of content in The Dragoning, we’re comparing it with two Epic Encounters boxes:
- Shrine of the Kobold Queen (kobold miniatures and adventure module content)
- Lair of the Red Dragon (dragon miniature and lair boss battle adventure)
Together, these two EE sets cover the same type of play experience as our single box, making this the fairest side-by-side comparison.

Current development progress
Miniatures
First and foremost, the miniatures are all processed for mold production, and we have received pictures of red wax prototypes (shown below). In essence, the red wax prototype defines the final look, proportions, and surface texture of the miniature, making it the critical reference point for the entire manufacturing process. We are also awaiting delivery of PU prototypes, i.e. the early test copies created from the master mold made using the red wax sculpt. Liquid PU resin is cast into that mold to produce hard, durable sample figures that accurately reflect the final miniature’s shape and detail. These PU samples are used for checking sculpt fidelity, spotting molding or part-line issues, verifying assembly fit, and approving the figure before mass-production tooling begins. Because PU cures rigid and crisp, it provides a reliable preview of how the design will translate into production materials.
Maps and Tokens
The final designs are being drawn for the unlocked Stretch Goal map and tokens. We have chosen the best printing partner for the job, so once we have all the illustrations we will start the production of those components.
Booklet
We aim to finish writing the booklet in November. Then, it's getting adjusted for Daggerheart and edited. Layout should take up to 2 weeks time, so by late December, it should be ready for test printing.
Dice
The dice are ready. Sample image below. I'm really proud of how they turned out!
Coins and Pins
Those are also finished and packed up.
Brushes and Paints
The brushes are currently in transit, and the paints are waiting for their dedicated box and insert to be made. This is a task for early January.
Cards
Card layout is planned for December.
