The oversized 8x12”, 144-page, glossy, full color, hardcover graphic novel dripping with spot gloss enhancements and a ribbon bookmark! This edition presents all the original material from the limited mini-series, along with the bonus article segments:  “Making Monsters” (a look behind the curtain at all the magic that goes into making the series) and '80s, Once upon a time…” (a retrospective of all things we love about the 1980's!) The articles explore movies, video games, toys, comics and all that wacky candy we grew up on...and of course we’ve included a full cover gallery and behind-the-scenes production content.

Rising Rebels…what’s it all about?

In a dusty attic corner, in an old cardboard box, young Evan stumbles upon his dad’s vintage 1980's stash. VHS…three magic letters right there on the worn paper sleeves that boast some of the coolest artwork he has ever seen! Machine-gun toting, bronzed bikini babes, mutated sea creatures, aliens from space…and that one tape…way at the bottom of the box. The tape with the BLOOD RED lettering. “Please, Dad! Let’s watch this one! ” His finger presses PLAY…and it’s already too late! 

Classic 80’s MONSTER Horror!!!

Rising Rebels is a time machine ride, transporting you back to the glory days of 1980's style, over-the-top cinematic home video horror by the creative team of Jay Fotos, Mark Kidwell, and Jeff Zornow. Murderous civil war rebels cut down by Union special forces and dragged to a well-deserved hell by their victims, all on rich, grainy videotape!

But that’s only the beginning…!

Fast-forward to 1983, when a commercial real estate developer, planning to drain the swamp and erect an upscale country club resort, accidentlly gives rise to the long-forgotten curse! Beautiful voodoo witches! Mutated muck-monsters built from animal parts and the mire of the swamp! A red-eyed revenant named Knox astride his undead mount, “Rosie”! We promise you… all Hell breaks loose, deep down in Dixie!

The full color, trifold 11x24” professionally mounted game board is tucked neatly into the slipcase along with the hardcover graphic novel. The Rising Rebels board game is a “roll & move” style race game with fully illustrated, custom event cards (30 playing cards included *unlock more game cards in the STRETCH GOALS), space-driven challenges and dice combat baked right in. The game’s seven illustrated “Cut-Scenes” lifted directly from the RISING REBELS comic series plot add even more depth to your game play. Gather your friends, break out the beer and pretzels and visit the haunted swamps again and again to see who can defeat the horrors and lay the risen rebels to rest! The game comes with pawns, cards and dice…everything you need to sink or swim in the twisted world of Rising Rebels!

He is the co-creator of the ongoing zombie Vietnam series ’68, Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer (#1 selling series) and spearheaded the Frazetta Comics line through Image Comics. •  MARK KIDWELL - is a writer, illustrator, special film FX designer, novelist and screenwriter whose credits include: Creator/Scriptor of the long-running Image Comics, “zombies in Vietnam” series, ’68, writer/illustrator of the classic Fangoria Comics series, BUMP, Frazetta Comics’ Dark Kingdom and many others. Mark has designed iconic creature effects with Robert Kurtzman’s Creature Corps and MUFX studios, including the psychotic “human-flesh” walrus suits for Kevin Smith’s TUSK, the Meat Man for Don Coscarelli’s John Dies at the End, the ghosts for the Netflix series, The Haunting of Hill House and many, many more. His art has been featured in comic book titles such as GODZILLA, ‘68, VAMPIRELLA, HALLOWEEN, JURASSIC PARK  through IDW Publishing and Image Comics, and of course RISING REBELS, among others. Long designs, colors, letters, and pretty much lives comic books going on a quarter century now.
